Cardiff City stirker Idriss Saadi is likely to make the Bluebirds’ bench within the next three games, according to boss Russell Slade.
Saadi played 60 minutes in a behind-closed-doors friendly match at Portsmouth on Tuesday.
The 25-year-old marksman was prolific at French Second Division club Clermont before signing for Cardiff, but, in January, Saadi ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament ruling him out for the rest of the campaign.
He had made a tentative return to action at the start of this season, but after arriving in the Welsh capital he was carefully monitored by Bluebirds’ medical staff.

That looks to have paid off now, with Saadi coming through his debut and Slade himself left delighted with his new player’s performance.
“Idriss had 60 minutes against Portsmouth that’s what we wanted, we took him off, we did not want him doing any more than that,” said Slade.
“We were very pleased. The Preston game on Saturday will be too soon for him, but say over the next three games we will be looking at him coming onto the bench. That could even be brought forward if we have other injuries.”
The Bluebirds’ development side lost out 2-1 to their hosts, with Dylan Rees scoring for City.
