Ross Turnbull has had to undergo surgery after he suffered a broken ankle during training last week, Yorkshire Evening Post’s Phil Hey reports.

Turnbull sustained the injury at Leeds’ training facility Thorp Arch last week and is set to be out of action for the majority of the remaining campaign.

This leaves boss Uwe Rosler with a concern regarding goalkeepers, as he now has no experienced cover for Marco Silvestri for their home tie against league leaders Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday, with 21-year-old Charlie Horton being his only option for back up.

The 2012 Champions League winner joined Leeds this summer after his contract with Barnsley expired at the end of last season.

Since then however, he has struggled to break into the first team, with his only appearance coming in their Capital One cup defeat to his former club, Doncaster Rovers.

Leeds currently sit in 16th place in the Championship after 10 games and have registered 11 points, with their only two wins coming against Derby County and MK Dons.
