' Team success & Carnival feel '
Paul Abbandonato

Team success
Greats like Ryan Giggs, Ian Rush and Mark Hughes were denied this highest stage. Bale will have it... and you just watch him wow the football world on it. His effort made it seven goals for Wales in the 10 qualifiers. This has very much been a team success, but few individuals right across Europe will have done more to get their team into the finals.
At the end, the players were introduced one by one onto a stage erected in the middle of the pitch to take the applause. Each wore a t-shirt bearing the words 'Diolch, Together, Stronger'.
They danced with joy on the platform, sprayed champagne and rocked with the fans before embarking upon a lap of honour and jigging away to Zombie Nation. Heady heights indeed. See what I mean about the celebration to beat any celebration.
This was the type of euphoria associated with a team winning the Premier League or FA Cup. Who would have thought we would see it with the Welsh football team after those years and years of anguish and hurt?

Carnival feel
The end was magnificent, but there had been a carnival-like feel to Cardiff City Stadium from way before kick-off, the tension and anxiety that had preceded the previous home games against Bosnia, Cyprus, Belgium and Israel making way for a buzz of sheer enjoyment.
'We like to sing, we like to dance, we've got our passports and we're off to France' roared around the stadium.
The fans continued getting into the mood by wildly utilising the free clappers that had been left on every single seat in the ground. Those clappers contained a 'thank-you' message from skipper Ashley Williams and were signed by every single member of the team. Lovely touch that by the FA of Wales. TogetherStronger, indeed.
