I believe you, I just thought City would of either included him or sent him out on loan to the division above.

County fans should be well happy with this. Tommy is a great young player and should probably be playing for a better team on loan.

to be honest annis, i think slade knows hes under huge pressure to deliever this season, so i dont think he will risk any kids on the bench, i think if we had a manager who was allowed say 5 years to build something, then you would see the likes of tommy playing often

Sometimes lower standard boosts self esteem when you see you are lot better than other players! Game time is more important. :thumbright:

Tommy needs to play, it's good that he's playing local but glimpses I have see he's better than bottom division struggling team

unfortunately i dont think we have seen anything of him in a professional first team football sense to warrant saying he is too good.

I hope he turns out to be the player a lot of people hope he is. But he went on loan to a league 1 club last season and couldnt get a kick. At least now he has a chance to shine

I hope this is just a stepping stone for him to get into the first team.

Looks like Jazzi Barnum Bobb has signed for County on loan as well; with Tom James being offered on loan as an option.

The idea to send them to Newport is to gain experience in a team fighting for league survival, additionally being a nearby team, it would be easier to monitor their performances and development over the coming weeks. They're hoping that the experience Joe Ralls gained at Yeovil was beneficial in developing his game time mentality and maturity, would similarly pay off for O'sullivan and co players. Was talking to someone at the Vale today and they will expect more academy and development players to leave on loan in coming weeks.

It's his level at the moment. May be a late blossomer. Luckily Newport isn't far and hopefully he's going to sign a new contract here. He's behind in terms of playing because Ralls was already in the team at his age

Jazzi Barnum-Bobb has joined Newport on loan

Two highly-rated Cardiff City youngsters have moved on loan to Newport County.

Midfielder Tommy O’Sillivan and defender Jazzi Barnum-Bobb have joined new Exiles’ boss John Sheridan initially for one month and both will be available for County’s League Two clash with Portsmouth at Rodney Parade on Saturday.

O’Sullivan was recently named FAW Young Player of the Year award for his performances as Bluebirds under-21 skipper and also his showings for Wales at under-21 level.

He has three senior appearances for Cardiff, coming off the bench twice in the League Cup and also in the FA Cup in January 2013 in a defeat at Macclesfield. He had a previous loan spell at Port Vale at the back end of last season playing five games for The Valiants.

The midfielder, who was raised in Mountain-Ash, has also represented Wales through the various age categories including eight appearances for the under-21 squad, scoring twice in the process, including the opening goal when Wales defeated England 4-0 in the Victory Shield.

Enfield-born, Barnum-Bobb, was initially a product of the Watford Academy and spent two-years as a scholar with the Hornets, before being released at the end of the 2013-14 season.

The full-back was snapped up by Cardiff and rapidly emerged as exciting young prospect, making his senior debut against Coventry in the League Cup in August 2014.

They both join an Exiles squad still rooted to the foot of the Football League and desperate to gain some upward momentum under Sheridan who recently took over previous incumbent, Terry Butcher.

Let's see how he gets on.
If he's that good he will shine and his next loan can be a level up.

He first needs to prove himself.

Good move all round if you ask me

I'm pretty sure playing some meaningful football, rather than just DVP/U21 matches is just what they need. Playing in front of a couple of thousand paying customers in a match that means something to both teams is better than the glorified training matches that are the development team, even if it is league 2.
