' RUSSELL SLADE AND HIS RESULTS - WHAT DO YOU THINK ? '

Russell Slade has now managed Cardiff City for 45 league matches.

This Saturday October 17th will see Russell Slade take charge of his 46th match away to Preston North End.

Slade was appointed Bluebirds manager on October 6th 2014 and his first official match as manager took place on Saturday October 18th versus Nottingham Forest which the Bluebirds won 2-1.

The former Leyton Orient manager's record at Cardiff City reads :

Played 45,
Won 17 (10 home, 7 away)
Drawn 14 (6 home, 8 away)
Lost 17 (7 home, 7 away)
Points 65.

Breaking down the results into last season and this reads :

2014/15

Played 35,
Won 13 (7 home, 6 away)
Drawn 10 (5 home, 5 away)
Lost 12 (6 home, 6 away)
Points 49.

Last season we averaged 1.4 points per game, which based over 46 games would have seen City finish with 64 points.

Last season 6th placed team, Ipswich, finished the season on 78 points.

This season we are averaging 1.6 points per game and base that over 46 games would see City finish with 74 points.

These are the facts of Slade's time so far at City, there is certainly an improvement on this season based on current points per game ratio.

What do you think of Russell Slade's results as Cardiff City manager so far ?

Obviously to many draw's as only 4 losses in what the last 20 game's? Considering everything he's doing good job!

Not bad. Going in the right direction but still a lot to prove imo and as things stand the way he picks his team i dont see us reaching the play offs i see us finishing 8th or 9th place but i hope he proves me wrong. Saadi could make a big difference.

I believe we are a middle of the table team under Slade, even though we have a squad capable of being automatically promoted.

But to be fair to Slade, he has improved during his time here :thumbright:

Agreed.

I think his inexperience at this level will mean that promotion is beyond him.

The lack of backing for Slade will mean promotion is beyond him. Apart from Saadi who cost next to nothing and wasn't a Slade signing, Slade hasn't been allowed to spend a penny this summer!

I don't think it's a lack of backing Slade in particular, I think whoever had been appointed was only going to be given a very limited budget to work with this season. I am convinced Tan has no intention of pumping any more vast sums of money into the club, and that all he wants is stability in the Championship while reducing the defecit and running costs at the same time. If Slade can keep the club anywhere close to mid table this season, he will have done well given the money available, and the players he has had to offload.

Whilst I would like a few additions to the squad I think that there is enough quality in the team and the squad to be challenging for promotion but I'm not sure Slade is the man to utilise those players effectively enough to get promoted.

I totally agree with you and I hope the majority of our fan base share your thoughts. What frustrates me is as much as I appreciate we have to make cut backs, Slade has offloaded plenty of players to slash the wage bill this season on top of the huge cut backs we have made last season.

So for Slade not to be given a single penny to spend this summer and to then be told we won't be making any signings during the loan window is very unfair and disappointing. People think we have enough quality and don't need any new players, but I disagree. We still lack a natural leader and a box to box midfield general.
