" CARDIFF CITY DAY IN THE VALE "

Friday just gone

Was it worth the money?

18 teams of four players
£400 a team
Bacon rolls and coffee on arrival -
Free taylor made Cardiff city gift box with three balls marker and towel
Emma harding shop manager was promoting shop golf range

Shot gun start 12.30 every team on 1-18 holes
During the game you had commercial team driving around on buggys giving out water or bottles of bulmers

On reaching the first tee was club photographer Peter Thomas filling heinken pint glasses before proceeding with team photo

Hole one was a chance to win BMW - but small print if read correctly you would of needed to been placed 180 yards from hole and the tee was 175 yards hmmmm

There was a prize on every par three for hole in one ranging from set of clubs to luxury holidays

On finishing round sit down two course meal (chips puff pie and peas ) alicart slice chocolate cake desert crap

Speaches was led by Nic Helsop and Roger Gibbons which was rushed
Only players there was ex players Scott Young Damon Searle

Just had these comments passed on to me from City fans who played last Friday and have done on many of the past years.

Piss poor should of been a current Cardiff city player as in the past.
In each team playing and sat at the table for a non rushed three course meal
With manager or owners giving talks and speeches about what is happening at the club
What progress had or not been made what players due to stay or go or come in all in all day was rushed and quite a few teams were disappointed of the set up under the Heading CARDIFF CITY GOLF DAY - nothing special at all

Cardiff City Forum came joint third lost out on count back.

Not a professional day at all

Alan Pocock,
Can't agree more Annis Abraham, for my little ones birthday last month, I paid with another child's parent £360.00 for a match day package that involved an hour training at the house of sport, a personal box with food, pre match photographs with a player, a note in the programme and a mention at half time with a screen grab on the TV.

In a nutshell the coaches turned up late so just over 45 mins, the food was a voucher for chicken nuggets and chips with the smallest fruit shoot (if we wanted a burger or hot dog we had to pay more), the photo was terrible (I would post the photo but it's at home and whilst I understand the Declan wasn't happy it's hardly a memorable photo to put up in his bedroom wall), they didn't screen grab on the TV at half time or mention them and the box was stinking covered with left over food when we arrived and the terrorist stewards wanted to keep the boys inside rather than let them sit outside and watch the game because they hadn't paid for seats!!!!

Work that out.

I was expecting that you got to spend time with Slade and the players for a day.

We are a very very unprofessional "professional" football club, go figure

Should of kept photo evidence and got a total refund. If that had been me I would of created hell. People should not have to put up with such poor standards

£100 for a round of golf, pie & chips, choc cake, a few bland speeches & Damon Searle

However, that 'matchday' package for £360 described by Alan sounds horrific. The golf day I could get over it, having my kids' 'special' day out ruined would be a very bitter experience

On the subject of Damon Searle, I have to be totally honest and admit he is my least favourite ex Cardiff City player. Nothing personal, I suppose he should be regarded as an inspiration. If he can get paid to play football ( I use that term loosely ) then the world is your oyster, go reach out and achieve whatever you want in life :digging2:

Just a couple of comments on this

Firstly , any idea how they advertised this , as I had heard nothing about it prior to the event? Was it just an invite to a few selected by the club , through the Supporters Club or through the club website?

I do loads of golf days in a year through my firm and the prices that were charged for this one seem ridiculously high for the quality of event put on. Even for a well organised , well run , charity golf day I would expect to pay no more than £250 for a team entry which would include a decent meal after.

On the subject of charity , to what use was the money raised on the day put? Was it a charity day for a good cause , or just a club fundraiser? I would hope the former , as the club has a good track record with its local charitable giving , but it is unclear from this thread.

Keith,
All I know is that Mallo put a team out and paid £400 and has done every time there is any event. Apparently from day one, it was not done no where near as good as it had been in the past and so unprofessional .
What I've posted is what I was told by Mallo's team that paid and played on the day.
I don't. No any more than that sorry.
