Welsh fa want to put some of world cup qualifying games at millennium stadium! Will they ever learn?
Mon Oct 12, 2015 10:19 am
I'd like to quote Neil Diamond "it can't sing it can't dance but money talks"
I agree with you its stupid to move from the CCS. The most successful qualifying campaign in 60 years, with all the home games played at the CCS.
Welsh FA again being greedy .

I really hate the Millenium Stadium, or the Building Society Stadium, whatever it's new name is. It's an egg ground. Always treated us like dirt.

It isn't the home of Welsh football... When will the FAW Learn!? Together... Stronger... Until we want a bit more money then we're by ourselves and you are customers.

That's modern football it's all about the ££££££

They could always try and improve the Welsh leagues. Could make money if they lure in plastic fans to local league games.

Very bad news.
All qualifiers should be played at CCS. If they're desperate to play at MS, why not just have a pre-Euros friendly against Argentina/Brazil etc there?

With the money they will be receiving through European Qualification, there would be no need to move to get money. Welsh Football is huge at the moment, why change something that is currently working? Talk to 90% of the fans tomorrow, and ask them why they are currently supporting the team, I guarentee the atmosphere is one of them. MS with its air horns and 3 feathered shirts will make sure that didn't continue.

no problem with having a few of the bigger friendlies there. and we should be having some good ones coming up (argentina in Feb for example)
But the qualies should be at the CCS

I'm agreeing with you. Just saying instead of going for the extra few quid going to MS. Why not try and boost attendances at the Welsh leagues. Another form of revenue. Some Welsh fans support manure and that for major European football. Get a few thousand people at a club who do well in faw league. They get more money. Buy better players and improve facilities and there's a chance they'll qualify.
Thus generating more money for the faw. Everyone is a winner.

Surely they would ask the player for their feelings on it before making such a statement..?

Will they ever learn, the atmosphere at Cardiff City Stadium this campaign has been amazing; it could also be replicated at the Liberty or Parc Y scarlets if they wanted to alternate between different venues. I've seen games at the millennium, and not even once I enjoyed the game or the match atmosphere.

Having just read what ford said I have no doubts they will use mil stdm for some WC qualifying games!

Just like with club level football, Wales can only be 'so' big and we are basically a 30-40,000 fans sort of country.
For every 70k Millennium crowd there has been an under 20k one.
Why don't the FA build their own 40-50k stadium or help find another tier on CCS.

Look here I for one would much rather stay at CCS but if we continue to rise up in the world of Football and the demand was there our leaders are going to go for the bigger money spinning option.
But football is a funny old game as they say and things can turn around quickly,if we had a bad start to the world cup campaign and crowds dropped off it would be a disaster.
Lets stay where we are for next campaign and see what happens cos I don't think we have totally grown out of the CCS JUST YET!!

Our leaders. Made me chuckle.

It was always going to happen. IMO the millennium is fine if full but a few dodgy results and crowds will drop quickly then a half empty stadium kills it.

Yes. The millennium stadium would be good for a major final...something like..I dunno. ..the champions league final.

Gotta make hay when the sun shines. The MS has (when full)has a better atmosphere than theCCS.Its not as if were talking a few grand here or there. They would be slaughtered if they didn't take the chance to more than double their money. And we'd be taking dosh off the fairwhether fans of which there are many.
Mon Oct 12, 2015 5:28 pm
One or 2 bad results and we will be back to 10k crowds again.
Only really one attractive fixture anyway, and that's v Ireland
Mon Oct 12, 2015 8:05 pm
The Welsh fa must be gutted they didn't have the Andorra game at the Ms stadium tomorrow night so they could get a bigger crowd and more money you watch the prices will go up for the next matches staying at the ccs is much better I hope we never go back to ms

Does anyone have any evidence of this? Haven't seen anything official.

Just read Ford's comments. That's really disappointing. Hopefully the players will have a say.
