TOWNSEND JOINS GRIMSBY
Hull City defender Conor Townsend has signed for Grimsby Town on a one-month loan deal.
The 22-year-old left-back will be available for Grimsby’s fixture against Halifax on Tuesday.
CITY TRACKING 'NEW RAMOS'
Manchester City are set to make a move for Sevilla teenager Jose Maria Amo, reports the Daily Mirror.
The centre-back has been dubbed the ‘new Sergio Ramos’, which is quite some billing, and Sevilla are reportedly keen to tie him down to a professional deal before City get a chance to make their move.
TONEY HOMESICK
Ivan Toney has revealed he has had to contend with some homesickness since his summer move from Northampton to Newcastle.
"My mum's not there to do everything for me, so I've got to be a big man for myself, Toney told BBC Radio Northampton.
"The football's obviously a bit different tempo-wise but I've managed to adapt to it and I'm enjoying it."
Regarding homesickness, he added: "(There has been) a little bit, (and) missing my family a lot but other than that it's all right."
SHAWCROSS HOPES BUTLAND STAYS
Ryan Shawcross hopes Stoke will be able to hang on to Jack Butland for a long period as the goalkeeper gets ready to make his first England start.
"We seem to have a problem that if our keepers play so well they move on so we will have to be careful he doesn't have too many saves to make," said Shawcross.
"Jack's signed a long contract and he's a top keeper. Hopefully we can keep him for as long as we can."
BURNLEY EXPECT INGS FEE
Burnley hope to find out their compensation for Danny Ings before Christmas, reports the Daily Mail.
The Clarets believe they could get a record £8m tribunal fee for the England forward, who left the club for Liverpool after his contract expired in the summer.
LIVERPOOL WATCH NEVES
Liverpool are targeting £20million Porto teenager Ruben Neves, reports the Daily Star.
It’s unlikely the 18-year-old will become Jurgen Klopp’s first signing though, as the Reds may have to wait until next summer to sign him.
Club scouts were in Portugal on Friday to watch him in action for his country's U21s against Hungary, and Liverpool are expected to receive competition for his signature from Premier League champions Chelsea.
BARCA TO HIJACK CHELSEA’S DEAL
Barcelona have entered the race to sign reported Chelsea target Marquinhos, according to reports in France.
The Paris Saint-Germain defender is currently behind Thiago Silva and David Luiz in the pecking order at the Parc des Princes.
Le 10 Sport claims Chelsea are looking at bringing him to Stamford Bridge in January, but now Barcelona are also thought to be interested in the Brazilian.
Both Chelsea and Barcelona, winners of their respective leagues last season, have got their title defences off to poor starts, with defensive errors a key characteristic of their stuttering seasons.
ROMA EYE DEBUCHY?
Roma are considering making a move for Arsenal full-back Mathieu Debuchy, according to France Football.
The 30-year-old is finding first-team opportunities hard to come by at the Emirates Stadium having fallen behind Hector Bellerin in the pecking order during an injury-plagued debut season at the club.
The Frenchman, who is thought to be considering his options in North London, has also attracted interest from Serie A champions Juventus.
‘UNITED OVER LIVERPOOL’
Barcelona legend Xavi has revealed he would rather play for Manchester United than Liverpool.
The World Cup winner, who currently plies his trade at Qatari side Al Sadd, admitted he would have loved to have played in the Premier League.
"To be honest, the Premier League attracts any player. It’s wonderful," he told Eurosport."The stadiums, the grass, the fans, how they live football. Everything is wonderful.”
Asked which team he would have liked to have played for, he responded: "A team with history. Either Manchester United or Liverpool.
"I know other teams like Man City have emerged more recently, but, Manchester United are my favourite historically speaking."
MONREAL AGREES NEW DEAL?
More good news for Arsenal fans now, and the Daily Mail claim Nacho Monreal has committed his future to the club by agreeing a new three-year deal.
The 29-year-old Spaniard is thought to have rejected an approach from Athletic Bilbao in favour of prolonging his stay at the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners are thought to be in the midst of a contract renewal drive, with Alexis Sanchez among those closing in on a new deal at the club.
‘PEDRO SHOULD’VE STAYED’
Pedro made a mistake in joining Chelsea and should have stayed at Barcelona, according to former team-mate Dani Alves.
Pedro completed a £21.4million move to Premier League champions Chelsea during the summer and got his Blues career off to the perfect start, scoring 20 minutes into his debut.
Chelsea’s season, and Pedro’s form, has since taken a turn for the worse, and Alves believes the Spaniard should have stayed at the Camp Nou.
“I told Pedro he should have stayed at the team but too many people got involved,” Alves said.
'Had he stayed he would have been happy here but we don't make the decisions. If we did I would want him to stay for years.”
