Championship outfit Rotherham United have moved to appoint ex-Leeds United boss Neil Redfearn as the club’s new manager, the Millers have confirmed.

Redfearn is the new Rotherham boss

Redfearn left the Whites at the end of last season after rejecting the chance to remain with the club in a coaching capacity, after guiding the first-team to 15th in the Championship.

Redfearn has built up a steady reputation of bringing young players into the first-team fold and he will inherit a fairly youthful squad at the New York Stadium, where he replaces Steve Evans who left last month after three-and-a-half years in charge.

The Millers hierarchy claimed they had received hundreds of applications for the vacant position and Walsall boss Dean Smith was one of the candidates who was reportedly high on the club’s list of targets.

Redfearn has now been given the nod though and his first game at the helm will be next Saturday when he takes his new charges to Brentford.

Surprised that they sacked Steve Evans after two wins.

He was never given a proper chance at Leeds, as we know what type of mad owner they've got.

So he might do a good job at Rotherham, although there is no money there.
