Brendan Rodgers was blocked signing Ashley Williams by the Liverpool transfer committee, according to the Daily Mail.

Rodgers was on the transfer committee at Anfield but he was stopped from going after the Swansea centre-back due to his age.

He might be a JB but he's far better than any of the current centre halves in the Liverpool squad, regardless of his age.

He's the one Jack player that Rodgers should have signed. One of top 4 or 5 central defenders in premier league. Certainly got another 3 or 4 years at top level if he avoids injury.

Lucky escape for Ashley Williams. He's better off with Swansea than that shower.

I can understand them wanting Rodgers to look at younger defenders as they were spending big money.
