" BATTLERS "
City at Brighton
By Nathan Blake
05/10/15
Cardiff weren’t at their best and faced a lot of pressure, but they battled and earned their reward.
The Bluebirds will learn valuable lessons from the way Brighton played and how they reacted to the problems they were posed.
City players had the courage to see the job through. I haven’t always been confident Cardiff can challenge for promotion, but what I am see now in terms of spirit and togetherness suggests there are better times ahead.
I genuinely feel they could go up this season if progress is maintained. If that isn’t possible I would certainly back them in 2016-17 if they keep the stability and structure they have now.
It's time for Cardiff City to see more of Vincent Tan
Personally, I don’t feel Brighton will stay top, but they will be up there among the contenders. So will Cardiff City,
If they can stay in or around the top eight, hang on and build confidence there is every chance of success.
Brighton had 64% of possession and battered the Bluebirds at times, but they showed a willingness to scrap for their football lives.
The point earned is a valuable plus. All in all that is a cracking result from one of the most difficult fixtures they will face this season.
' Could've won '
Sammy Ameobi could even have won it with his second half chance, although Gordon Greer had a golden chance to score a second for Brighton in injury time.
And, finally, a word for City’s travelling supporters. It was great to hear the 1,200 getting behind their team. They were fantastic and I applaud each and every one of them for their passion and willingness to sing, chant and generally make themselves heard above the home fans.
Yes, Cardiff conceded possession far too easily at times. They were far from their best, but fought for 90 minutes and that will inspire everybody around the club.
Cardiff are eighth and looking as though they can maintain their place in and around the leading group.
Cardiff City need a middle man between Vincent Tan and Russell Slade who is not afraid to say 'no'
Now I want to see the Bluebirds faithful, whoever you are, pulling together.
This is no time to be moaning and groaning, complaining about things unless you have an extremely good reason.
It was like the Alamo out there at the Amex, but Cardiff faced the challenge and came through it.
Brighton are the best team in Championship football right now and went into the match boasting a 100% home record. They don’t have that any longer
I’m feeling a stirring of belief. The key is for everybody who loves our club to get behind that Bluebirds dream.
