' KENWYNE’S NO TALISMAN '
By Chris Wathan
Strikers are rarely going to impress in a game when your team is on the back foot and service is in short supply, but the role is more than putting the ball in the net. When teams and defences are under pressure, a striker who holds the ball and gives others a breather can lift a team.
Similarly, when teams have dropped too deep – as Cardiff did here – making the ball stick can allow the side to push out and try and recover their footing in the game. Jones did nothing of the sort and did nowhere near enough work to try and change it.
Slade defended his efforts but both he and No.2 Paul Trollope were seen screaming at the striker when Whittingham had tired of the Trinidadian refusing to come short, played a ball behind and got a earful for not giving it to him on a plate.
Brighton had even had chance to spark a counter while Jones’ moans continued. He can do it, but here the Brighton’s defenders didn’t have to work hard for their appearance bonus.

I think Jones is better as a sub.

But what a waste? I'm not a big fan of him but if we're paying him 30k plus add ons 50k a week we might as well play him from the start...

But if he is going to continue being ineffective then he is going to have to be.

Said before when he wants to play he is top notch but on the flip side when he can't be arsed he is a liability. I know he had a good start to the season but I also knew it wouldn't last. It has been a trademark of his career. I do believe the reason he has never gone on to play at the very top for a top 4 team regularly is Kenwyn himself.

Its because he didn't score a hat trick.

When I read that aloud I can't help but do it in a Borat voice.
