we saw what happened when your guys were left alone (without the yanks and russians) with wet feet at Dunkirk... thank f*** the Luftwaffe wasnt ordered to massacre em, otherwise we prob wouldnt be free now and thousands of good men wouldve been dead.

btw: 3 World Cups and 3 EuroChamps... :D

I am welsh , I wont be supporting england , never in a million years

yesterday they interviewed some right idiot english fans

some bloke outside a pub saying " ten german bombers !! " and laughing

I cant believe some people still think that way

its embaressing for them

germany is a great modern and mostly liberal country and the people are mostly great

basil fawlty was taking the piss out of the english for still going on about the war in that sketch he did

seems like some still read the sun newspaper too much

I am sure they will bring up the war at some point in the next few days

sad but true sludge, that's the way I see it too.

this game for me is one of the great rivalries (like germany v italy or holland too). its so sweet to send one of your great rivals home early and play on and the adrenaline is rising. what a lot of english dont get is, that we are not obsessed with the war and all that. the rivalry exists because of 1966, there it started, continued in 1970 and went on and on (1980, 1982, 1990, 1996 etc) also the last game/goal at old wembley, first team to beat england at new wembley etc.
IF we would live in history (like e.g. many SUN readers) we would have an even bigger rivalry with Russia and the USA (which we havent)

in icehockey we dont have a rivalry with the UK, there it is Austria, Czech Rep and the Swiss we look to defeat. and for british icehockey fans its mostly holland, france and poland I believe...

said it years ago, for many people football is a substitute for war, listen to the songs when england plays germany or argentina.

how comes that when Germany plays Scotland, Scots and Germans sing/drink together? been to Wales v Germany games and there were no bitter feelings...

Denzil, for the 50th time.
My first football matches with my Grandfather from Bury(Mothers side) were 7 matches watching Bury Town and 3 England games, then in 1972/73 Season after my school in Marshfield gave me kids tickets, I went along with my Grandfather while he was visiting us, and from there he moved down here and we became season ticket holders, they were his teams.
If WALES play England then I AM 100% for WALES :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

I scratch my head when fellow welsh fans sing those stupid songs and act like drunken english football fans

we had a few doing those songs when we got stuffed over in germany , but thankfully only a few

I fully understand English people or people with English parents backing England. Annis' Mum was English so he backs them, no probs with that...

what I dont get is this we back England because they are british... what's Britain? a political union... the EU is also a political union, support anĂ½ other european nation then? think not...

I travel with Wales from time to time, I havent got one single drop of Welsh blood in my but back Wales whenever I can. Why? cos I love the country, the people (apart from the Jacks), and I felt being welcome in Wales and I lived there for 3 years...

I also like to see Ireland doing well, know many Irish people (my ex gf is from there btw) and I made great friends there...

what if the jacks play in europe again one day and play a dutch or belgian side? support the gypos because they are a british side? what about ManUtd playing Juventus? back ManU cos they are british?

personally I choose a team because I like they way they play, their players, history or cos of some great friends amongst their supporters. NOT because a piece of paper, telling me because I am German/British/Dutch etc and therefore I got to back a team/club/side whis is foreign to me.

disagree on that. sooner or later they would have fully joined in (and rightly in that case). even b4 the USA officially declared war on us, they attacked german u-boats and escorted convoys. only that then the u-boats didnt have permission to fight back or attack american vessels...

i am more than happy how it turned out. imagine europe today with the nazis terrorizing people, for me 1945 was a liberation too. that is why we consider the western allies as our friends today
