Wales have moved up one place to 8th in the October release of the FIFA World Rankings that were published by world football's governing body today (1 October).

The one position rise is the result of Wales earning four points last month in the European Qualifiers following a 1-0 win in Cyprus and a 0-0 draw against Israel in Cardiff.
Argentina remain top of the Rankings with Germany and Belgium in second and third respectively. Wales are now one position below Brazil and are the highest ranked home nation:
Wales - 8th
England -10th
Northern Ireland - 35th
Scotland - 40th
Despite achieving their highest ever ranking, Wales remain focussed on earning the one point that is needed to qualify for UEFA EURO 2016 and Chris Coleman will announce his squad later today for matches against Bosnia-Herzegovina and Andorra.

It's strange that I couldn't give a toss about England, never watch them or read match reports but always watch other home nations and willing them on and hope they all qualify.

I reckon all the home nations would do better at the finals as well as England have attitude problems when they qualify, they think they have a divine right to get past the group stage without trying. I haven't watched England at any finals since 1990.
