Crystal Palace have taken to their official website to confirm the signing of youngster Jason Lokilo from Anderlecht after receiving international clearance.
The 17-year-old is the latest addition to Palace's ever-growing horde of wingers which already features the likes of Jason Puncheon, Wilfried Zaha, Yannick Bolasie and Bakary Sako, and has been training with the club's Under-18 and Under-21 squads since the summer.
In quotes on the club's website, he said: "I'm very happy to have signed with Crystal Palace. It's a good club making progress. They bought Cabaye, who is a very good player. [And I like] Bolasie, Zaha, Puncheon, it's a very good [place] for wingers! I've trained very well and I'm looking to continue that.
"I'm a right winger, but I can play anywhere," he explained. "I like to pass the ball and get assists. I'm left-footed, so I like to cut inside to create chances to score."
He continued "I need to work on my body, and maybe after, I can train [with the first team] and then maybe on the bench of the first team, then we will see."
Lokilo is one of a large number of Belgian players moving to the Premier League, with stars such as Jan Vertonghen, Eden Hazard, Romelu Lukaku and Christian Benteke all at English clubs, and Lokilo said: "The national team of Belgium, nearly the whole team plays in the Premier League. So yeah, English people like Belgian players!"
In his first interview with the club's website it was noted that his English was very good, and he revealed sheepishly that he had never worked on his English at school, saying: "No, never. I used to watch interviews with Cristiano Ronaldo, I'm a big fan. I hope to work on my English, to play with the under-21s and maybe sometimes the under-18s, let's see!"
