' TODAY'S MAIN TALKING POINT '

Sat Sep 26, 2015 7:09 pm

Joe Mason was put through one on one with the keeper by Anthony Pilkington, he touched the ball past the keeper and was going round the goalie for a tap in, the keeper dived at Mason's feet, got nothing on the ball and his body impeded our striker.

That is a penalty and preventing a clear goal scoring opportunity which should have seen a red card for the goalie.

That was my view at the time and haven't seen any replays of the incident yet, also the linesman indicated it was a penalty as well but the ref overruled and booked Mason.

Wrong decision in my view.

The ref did not hesitate in his decision though Carl.

To me it look a clear foul specially as Mason was one on one and managed to get the ball pass the keeper. It was easier to score than fake a dive. Don't know but just glad we got the 3 points else it would be another Rotherham.

We still won so I wouldn't dwell on it.

Clear penalty. We sit in the Grange and were on top of it. Mason had the GK clearly beaten from a side-step to his left. He was just about to tap it in while stretching and the GK ankle-tapped him. The GK was beaten so why would Mason dive as opposed to a tap in. I'm getting concerned about what to me are some very questionable decisions by refs against us. I never blame the ref for a poor result but I'm not liking what I'm seeing of late - incompetent at best, blatant at worst.

sitting in ninian Stand linesman imediately signald free kick against mason his flag was raised above head not across chest s for pen! no one in our area thought it was pen mainly because of masons pheatrical dive, also he put ball to wide thats why maybe he went down?

The thing is Al was that he had the GK clearly beaten for a tap-in and the GK contact forced it wide. I dont think the lino would have been able to see it clearly from where he was situated. Mason had no reason to dive when the open goal was on. Many teams throughout the leagues complain about bad officials but I honestly feel we seem to get more than our fair share.

Agree about officials but no one thought it was a pen near me because of way he went down! and as the lino clearly flagged for free kck agains mason must assume they thought he dived?

I wasn't in a position to see the handball but from what I'm told, it was another clear penalty. I don't want to see technology slow down sport but many of these game-changing incidents could be settled with an almost instant playback from several angles.

How I saw it the ball hit his hand not other way round! Also city player in another incident the ball hit his arm in area quite easily could been given! so balances out at end day

Never a penalty, linesman flagged against Mason immediately...his touch was poor, lost control, took the same option as Jones would have in the same situation....throw yourself down, pathetic.

It happened too quick for me to judge however after putting ball past their goalie all he had to do was to go past him and tap the ball in, so the question is why would he go down if not tripped ? Need to see a replay of this !!! :ayatollah:

We seem to discuss the decisions that go against us every week, but turn a blind eye to the ones that go in our favour. I thought that yesterday,if you were to look at things from a neutral point of view instead of from a City supporter's point of view, the ref got most things right,

His feet was taken from him - should of been a red card for the goalie instead a yellow was issued for mason criminal - last few games refs have been dreadful and totally against our play especially home to Hull where we were robbed and Hull was playing basketball

Video is here lads.

Make your own minds up.

Looks a pen to me, but not 100%.

Tough one for the ref as Mason goes down so theatrically.

I was gutted by last week's decision on Marshall and think we were unlucky again here, but can see why he didn't give it.

There was a hint of handball in our first goal and also on a block by Ralls, so maybe it evened out today ?

Spot on. A group of us sit in 124 and we were right on top of it - clear line of site right on top of the right-hand side of the 6 yard box. The lino was too far away to clearly see it, irrelevant of what he actually waved for - both he and the ref bottled it. Even the Charlton fans are saying that they expected a penalty and the GK to be sent off & that's based on the logic that Mason was clear for a tap in with the keeper beaten and had absolutely no reason to dive. Two game changing incidents in two weeks from atrocious refereeing decisions. Those who are saying it was not a penalty would be in meltdown in we had we lost yesterday.

I thought it was a clear penalty at the time, he does throw his arms up which made it look like a dive when it wasn't. I've watched the replay 20 times and in slow motion, goalkeeper makes definite contact with player and missed the ball totally. 100% red card and penalty.

I bet you it would've been given against us though.

Why did he attempt to go around him in the 1st place ? a tidy striker would have just slotted it passed the keeper

Def a penalty watching the replays, wrong decision by ref...
