A forum for all things Cardiff City

Cardiff City's main reporter Terry Phillips has announced his retirement. He's spent the last 20 odd seasons following City home and away. Terry also reports on the Ice hockey and will also be retiring from that.
Terry was a good old fashioned, honest reporter
He will retire after the Preston game at Deepdale on Saturday the 17th of October.
Thank You Terrry for everything, and I wish you the best of luck for the future

Mason, Yes Terry for me has been the most honest reporter ever to report on City and over the years has become a good friend and at the same time we've had many disagreements over the City, but with in hours had a good laugh about it after.
He will be sadly and badly missed, like you say a good, honest old fashioned reporter
Terry says he will continue to watch the games, Terry has met many owners and managers over the years and everyone respected him highly

That's sad to hear.
He's the only one who is anywhere near even handed with his reporting
The only one who isn't always fishing for responses, shit stirring or just talking rubbish.
I desperately hope they can bring in a knowledgable replacement with no agendas who will report things 'as they are' rather than what stupid notions are running around their tiny brains.

The best of the bunch, some terrible writers at the echo.

Always one
Wez, You will find Terry was an honest and true gent when it came to reporting and info.
Well respected by our club owners and managers for over 20 years.
Instead of either saying compliments or nothing at all, you had to spoil his goodbye
Very sad.

He had to retire he couldn't distinguish between Chris Powell and Chris Ramsey.

Can he take Tucker with him

Very sorry to see Terry go, but best of luck to him in his retirement. Well earned. The future looks bleak for the Echo and Western Mail. Tucker, Wathan, and Abbandonato. Beyond woeful!

That's a quick decision.
He will be missed!

Best wishes, Terry!
IMHO the
BEST Media Wales reporter where the reporting of Cardiff City FC is concerned and a man of real integrity!

not personally a big fan of his.
But as others have said, hes the best of the bench there and has put a lot into the job. i once did work experience as a 14 year old with the echo and mostly followed him around for the week, hope he enjoys his retirement.

I spoke to Terry few times on Wales away games, seemed a good lad and has been honest with his reports.

This is something I've never quite understood. Is it an in-joke with Cardiff fans that we always have to say that The Echo's reporting is rubbish?!
I've always enjoyed their football coverage, myself, and yes, Terry Phillips far and away the best.

I like Terry and have a lot of time for him, I think he is a fair and balanced reporter and is passionate about City and will be missed by the Echo in my opinion.

Sat with him at awards nights one year, certainly a knowledgeable guy when it came to city. Knew a lot of stuff, wonder if he kept it all to close to his chest or maybe that's what was on purpose. Enjoyed his company. Echos loss as the others are terrible.

Best of luck to Terry in his retirement met him recently when we held a trust meeting at the Plough with Jason Perry and Rob Phillips and he seemed a really nice guy and I agree with other posters he's a very good reporter that will be missed!
