Marshall Appeal Joy (Sort Of)

Vital Football

22/09/15

The decision of Cardiff to appeal the suspension of David Marshall, for his weekend sending off, has proven successful to a degree with the Official Website confirming his suspension has ben reduced by a game.

Marshall's sending off against Rotherham in the defeat on Saturday wasn't one Russell Slade was particularly happy with and this was one Cardiff appealed, upon doing this he'll now sit out two-matches and not three.

The 'keeper will now miss Cardiff's Championship games with Charlton at the Cardiff City Stadium and Brighton at the Amex Stadium only, with a short statement reading.

'Cardiff City Football Club can confirm that David Marshall's three game suspension has been reduced to two games following an appeal to the Football Association.

'David will miss this weekend's home game with Charlton and the subsequent away game at Brighton, but will be available for selection at Preston on November 17th.'

Prior to the appeal being made Slade felt the first foul, which led to the Cardiff captain 'kicking out' at Rotherham's Matt Derbyshire, which is something Marshall shouldn't have done anyway, was committed by the Millers striker when he pulled the Scottish internationals shirt?

Slade was quoted by the BBC as saying.

'The first offence is a free-kick to ourselves. It's a free-kick on Marshall. How the referee can say he has not seen that is beyond me.'

Having this suspension reduced by a game is something.

Simon Moore will now be given his chance in goal again for Cardiff and this time I feel, which is only fair, if he produces the goods for the Bluebirds the 'keeper should perhaps be given a longer run in the side and not make way for Marshall as soon as he's back!

Even taking into account how good Marshall is and how influential he is for us he shouldn't just walk straight back into the side again.
