We can confirm that David Marshall has had his three game ban reduced to two, following appeal to the Football Association.
David will thus be unavailable for Saturday's game with Charlton and our subsequent fixture at Brighton...

A bit of common sense has prevailed. He only misses 1 league fixture.
Now move on and show him some support.

Confirms what most people on here thought, and that is as the current rules stand, it was a sending off offence. However, if the punishment fitted the crime, I think that the sending off was sufficient punishment in itself, maybe a one match ban at a push. He obviously never intended to injure anyone, and it was a pretty minor indiscretion. Perhaps the rules need to be changed to allow the refs to use a bit of common sense. Would'nt even have warranted a talking to years back.

Great news (sort of) and takes into account the provocation he so clearly suffered

From FB
Neil Wixon My opinions he shouldn't has 2 match ban it should ve been overturned
Jon Mapp If the ref saw the kick there is no reason why he shouldn't have seen Marshall being yanked by the arm. Listening to it on teh radio I thought he's put his studs into him, not the tiny little gesture which actually happened.
Either way, play should have been stopped a second before he "lashed out"

Gabriels petulant kick was just as pathetic yet hes got off completely

Spot on even if the Ref didn't see it then what was the Linesman doing, glad his ban is reduced however a 1 match ban should have been given Tops

Marshall Appeal Joy (Sort Of)
Vital Football
22/09/15
The decision of Cardiff to appeal the suspension of David Marshall, for his weekend sending off, has proven successful to a degree with the Official Website confirming his suspension has ben reduced by a game.
Marshall's sending off against Rotherham in the defeat on Saturday wasn't one Russell Slade was particularly happy with and this was one Cardiff appealed, upon doing this he'll now sit out two-matches and not three.
The 'keeper will now miss Cardiff's Championship games with Charlton at the Cardiff City Stadium and Brighton at the Amex Stadium only, with a short statement reading.
'Cardiff City Football Club can confirm that David Marshall's three game suspension has been reduced to two games following an appeal to the Football Association.
'David will miss this weekend's home game with Charlton and the subsequent away game at Brighton, but will be available for selection at Preston on November 17th.'
Prior to the appeal being made Slade felt the first foul, which led to the Cardiff captain 'kicking out' at Rotherham's Matt Derbyshire, which is something Marshall shouldn't have done anyway, was committed by the Millers striker when he pulled the Scottish internationals shirt?
Slade was quoted by the BBC as saying.
'The first offence is a free-kick to ourselves. It's a free-kick on Marshall. How the referee can say he has not seen that is beyond me.'
Having this suspension reduced by a game is something.
Simon Moore will now be given his chance in goal again for Cardiff and this time I feel, which is only fair, if he produces the goods for the Bluebirds the 'keeper should perhaps be given a longer run in the side and not make way for Marshall as soon as he's back!
Even taking into account how good Marshall is and how influential he is for us he shouldn't just walk straight back into the side again.

Exactly, the amount of fuss over premier league players is silly, the ban has been given to costa now and gabriel has had his overturned, even though the tiny kick that marshall did give surely its a similar thing with derbyshire provoking him and apparently saying something to him(according to radio wales)
Costa provoked Gabriel, ban overturned, Costa charged.
Derbyshire provoked Marshall, ban reduced to two games.
Although what Costa did was worse but its still a very similar situation with two different outcomes.
