How Manchester United FC's Ryan Giggs relentlessly pursued Arsenal FC star Aaron Ramsey to no avail

Sir Alex Ferguson reveals he used Welsh factor in bid to land Ramsey from Cardiff City, but the Giggs tactic didn't work
Ryan Giggs tried to use the Welsh factor in a ‘relentless’ attempt to lure former Cardiff City starlet Aaron Ramsey to Manchester United, a new book by Sir Alex Ferguson reveals.
Ferguson was locked in a battle with Arsenal’s Arsene Wenger over the services of a then teenage Ramsey, who was shining for the Bluebirds and Wales and tipped to become one of the greatest players in Europe.
Arsenal eventually won the tug-of-war for Ramsey, but not before Ferguson attempted the Welsh connection as a secret Old Trafford weapon.
Ferguson and Giggs believed they were leading the chase, with then-Bluebirds boss Dave Jones telling them Ramsey’s first-choice actually was a move to Old Trafford.
But Wenger’s own sweet talking won the day in the end ahead of even Giggs, a player Ramsey used to idolise when he was growing up in Caerphilly as a Welsh football hopeful.
Sir Alex Ferguson and Ryan Giggs
“The players would also work hard to try to help me sign prospects with whom they had some tie,” recalls Ferguson in the new book in which he reveals many of his management techniques.
“Ryan Giggs was relentless in his quest to try and land his fellow Welshman, Aaron Ramsey, from Cardiff City. We flew Aaron up to Manchester, but it didn’t work.
“I had got word from Dave Jones, the Cardiff manager, that Aaron had originally wanted to play for us, but Arsene Wenger had somehow managed to turn his head and convince him that his future was at the Emirates.”
Ramsey, who had a loan spell back with the Bluebirds in 2011 as he recovered from a horrific leg-break, has gone on to have a magnificent career in North London. He has already made 230 appearances for the Gunners and proved a pivotal presence in their quest for trophies.
Ferguson has been left to ponder what might have been over Ramsey and United, but in the book he also claims to have at least had some revenge over Wenger for whipping Ramsey from under his nose.

From what i was told at the time and posted it all on here....many moons ago
Rambo went up to EVERTON first to see Moyes and then went on to MAN UTD.
When he got there it was Phelan who showed him around MAN U.
Then it was on to ARSENAL - Where he was made to feel at home, also AW got Rambo's parents on board with the club.
There was something about Switzerland at the time of this move, can't remember the reason behind that one.
Anyway Good Luck to Rambo - Getting better and better every season

Maybe the Giggs factor was not a good idea as Rambo wanted to play for Wales.

"Giggs, a player Aaron Ramsey idolised as a youngster."...
Think you'll find the player Ramsey idolised as a kid was none other than Graham Kavanagh. Rambo grew up a Cardiff Fan, which no media source seem to pick up on. Just because a player is Welsh doesn't mean he idolise Giggs!

Wenger flew Ramsey and his parents out to Switzerland on a private jet, where he was working as a pundit for French TV at Euro 2008, to meet him. Ferguson - apparently - sent Mike Phelan to meet Ramsey. Probably didn't give the right impression
