21 SEPTEMBER 2015

BY GARETH ROGERS

A group of Cardiff City fans have called a meeting to find out solutions to the problem of dwindling attendances and the poor atmosphere at home games

Cardiff City's fans want to improve the atmosphere at the stadium :ayatollah:

Solutions will be sought and passed on to the club

The last two home attendances have been below 14,000 and could be se for even lower

Wayne Nash from club says they have discussed a weekend only season ticket or a midweek season ticket - some fans can’t go at weekends, others in midweek. That may work and we have talked about that.

Not renewing

There is a suggestion that fans who have not renewed should be invited to a game free - one free ticket

Relationship with media must be improved - there are personal differences on both sides, says Vince Alm.

Players do go to schools and we need to promote those visits. :ayatollah:

Cardiff players are more active in the community than almost any other club in country.

Cardiff City Bar :ayatollah:

There is a lot of backing for a supporters bar - a lot of fans go into Canton Rugby Club.

“We need our own bar.” Says one fan

Beer subsidised in the Eddie May Bar if a big match is on TV.
£2.50p a pint is suggested.

Fan Zone :ayatollah:

A Fan Zone outside the ground is suggested.

Beer tents, a big screen with former players and old games being shown.

Super Kev :ayatollah:

Cardiff City fans want a testimonial for Kevin McNaughton.

Wayne Nash says a date is being sought

Goal Music :ayatollah:

“Good goal music works when it is done properly, it makes a difference,” says Alm.

“The majority of grounds are playing goal music.”

There is backing for goal music at the meeting.

Youngsters :ayatollah:

Alm mentions a group who follow Wales, from areas all around the country, who have got together to get behind team and have driven the atmosphere to new heights.

They have been criticised by others at their local clubs, but they are getting on with it.

“We need youngsters to come up with ideas, us older guys will come up with the same old ideas,” says Alm

“There are kids passionate and full of ideas.”

New Songs

Ideas for new songs are needed - and a working group needs to be set up to think of them.

Alm says go to cheesy songs which have been around for years and put words to it.

Singing Section :ayatollah:

Vince Alm says everybody in the ticket office knows the Canton End is the singing section - and fans who want to book there are told that.

The Supporters Club are putting money in to provide banners

“We are doing that to get things started, it’s something our members want,” says Alm

BIG scale :ayatollah:

Wayne Nash: “If you are going to have a banner we must look on a big, big scale.”

Suggestions :ayatollah:

Big, long banners to show the identity.

A fan says he goes abroad to matches and home fans ‘dress’ their end with banners.

Drums

Drums suggested at games - or a brass band. Drums win the vote on that one.
Big drums, little drums, all sorts of drums could be involved.

How about a leading fan with a megaphone getting fans singing?

What's in a name?

Is a name needed? Alm says he wants ideas for that.

He wants supporters to meet regularly and come up with songs and ideas to make the singing section vibrant and fun.

Anybody interested in being part of a working group can sign up.

Derby County

People say Derby have moved away end, but they have just moved it behind a goal says Vince Alm.

There is evidence to say that housing away fans near the home fans’ singing section can prove troublesome.

Alm says fans don’t always behave and police bills can go up.

Standing is allowed in Canton End. :ayatollah:

Vince says Ali Yassine is not on agenda - City have appointed a new announcer now

Some suggestions of moving singing section to the other end of stadium to be near away fans. That won’t be happening.

I went to a Malaga game last season and they had a lad on a megaphone starting the singing off.

Mind you, winning4-0 with terraces, a full house, and lovely weather might have helped a bit too

No mention of covering the red awful seats? How are we supposed to go forward with that huge reminder of the past. Also no mention of stopping showing the game on the tvs in the concourse?

It really is, I like NFL and watch it regularly and they use music after points are scored, we need to stop americanizing our sport

We lost because of music. :laughing5:

I don't like goal music.

FFS just after scoring is the one time when you DON'T have to worry about the atmosphere.

Definitely worth having a happy hour under the Canton perhaps before the game with a few tunes over the PA to wind the lads up, like the music we have on the away buses

Don't agree with free ticket for those who haven't renewed, they ain't there because they can't be arsed won't be happy if this comes off.

If it does how about rewarding the loyal fans who have renewed free away ticket paid for by club, no chance

You must be the only person that doesn't care about that monstrosity. There's always one who doesn't give a f**k about the constant reminder of being shafted by Tan.

From FB

Gareth Hughes It's too late for this season but ccfc should follow Bradford's example and do heavily discounted season tickets. 200 quid for adults and 50 quid for kids with 100 for students and OAPs. Do it in all sections apart from grandstand and hospitality. We'd get at least 20,000 no problem at all. The club would make a fortune from merchandise and food sales.

The Grangend stand is a family stand so why can't
I take my family in there even though my son is 18 we are still family, my wife and brother-in-law also would like
Season tickets but are only willing to go in the
Family stand. So there are 4 more season tickets they could sell if only they would let us in the family stand.

There are 4 fans I know that are also a family and would like to sit in the family stand next to the away fans.

Super kevs testimonial is a must :ayatollah:
My first season in the canton I if I'm honest I've enjoyed the atmosphere around me ( top row ) however a signing section is a great idea for all fans to get together, my suggestion is that it should be higher up the canton stand to get everyone below us to join in. :bluescarf:
