Steve Evans: 'Rotherham United battered Cardiff City to claim first win'

Steve Evans has said that Rotherham United gave Cardiff City "a hiding" during their Championship victory on Saturday.

The Millers won 2-1 to claim their first win of the season after a stoppage-time own goal by Matthew Connolly.

"The win has been coming for me. I think if it would have been anything other than a win it would have been a travesty. We've been the best side by a million miles from the first minute," Evans told BBC Sport.

"I thought we were battering them at 11 versus 11. They showed no interest in going forward in the second half and were camped behind the ball. The question was in the second half could we get the goal that our momentum deserved? You think it's not going to be our day.

"I think we were fantastic. We beat a top side full of quality players. We gave them a bit of a hiding."

Rotherham are now two points off safety in the Championship table.

Rotherhan were never going to score in open play and eas probably even play.

Hardly a shot on goal until Marshall did the unthinkable.

Didn't batter us but we were also poor.

Need a win now that's for sure.

Rotherham will go down.

Doubt they'll say that again about any team this season

Both teams were very poor in the first half - Rotherham will def go down, they might get a few points at home but will struggle away..
