Absolutely. Just about warranted a talking to both players. The Ref totally messed up and Derbyshire should be ashamed.

Unfortunately you just can't do that sort of thing, particularly with a home crrowd putting the referee under pressure - especially with the ref already having booked a number of players beforehand.

Don't try to excuse what was an absolutely pathetic and stupid show of petulance form an experienced player who doesn't seem to have learned from a similarly brainless act against Forest away last season.

Not trying to excuse Marshall. But to reiterate what I have already said. The referee and his assistants got it wrong. It is inconceivable that the Ref and his assistants did not see the original offence on Marshall by Derbyshire, I wont accept that they did not see it. Therefore they should have given a foul against Derbyshire. As there was an altercation between the the two players then both should have been spoken to. At worst(and I don't personally think this) Marshall's card was correct. The penalty should not have been as it was superseded by the foul on the keeper.
What's done is done. But there is no need for Marshall to apologise,to be stripped of the captaincy, or to pay the travel expenses of fans as has been ludicrously suggested by some.

Didn't see it as I was looking upfield , but maybe worth asking - was it anywhere near Rooney's lash out at Mutch the season before last !

Are you serious? It was nothing like that. I think there is a link to it on the other board if you want to view it. The Ref needs to be downgraded. Aberdare Valley League would be too good for him!

Just saw it and yes, effing joke.
No way is that a sending off or even booking. Free kick to City.
Compare that to the shenanigans at Chelsea v Arsenal and that could have ended as 5 a side.

Robbed by a shite ref twice in a week now.
Even though we weren't playing well I felt we would eventually get on top and go on to win.

Was at the game, and saw it from the opposite end. Not surprised that Marshall got a red. Matt Derbyshire is a J.Arthur, and a cheat, but he managed to provoke Marshall. An experienced pro should have kept his cool. Haven't seen it since, on TV or anything. He did the same at Forest last season. Missed three games, and now another three.

Have a look at the vid.

You might well change your mind.

I did.

At the ground a few were saying he kicked out and had to go ( remember it was at the opposite end )..

Looking at the vid he hasn't done anything. The officials were conned by a cheat.

Just seen the vid.

It was more of a tap than a kick as Derbyshire is implying. Even so he should have not done it.

I hope Derbyshire recovers fully after that potentially career-ending assault!

What a cheating a-hole.

The more I watch it, the less convinced I am that it's a penalty.
