A dull first half suddenly sprung into life at the New York Stadium as the Bluebirds captain suffered a rush of blood and got sent-off.
Cardiff City captain David Marshall was sent off for kicking out at Rotherham striker Matt Derbyshire moments before half time of today's Championship match.
With the game evenly poised at 0-0 and half time looming, the Scotland international kicked the former Blackburn man after a rush of blood, after the striker pulled him back.
The referee immediately pointed to the spot and Simon Moore was called into action, with Joe Mason making way.
Our man in the stands, Terry Phillips, said: " What on earth was Marshall doing? An experienced player like that. Stupidity!
"He must be furious with himself."
Centre back Sean Morrison took the captain's armband as Moore faced up to Vadis Odjidja-Ofoe's penalty.
The Norwich loanee gave the Millers the lead with a well struck strike but moments later, the Bluebirds were level as Fabio was taken down in the box by Farrend Rawson.
Peter Whittingham buried the spot-kick to level the scores at the break.
