Bluebirds manager Russell Slade believes the former French junior international CAN make an impact over the rest of this season
Cardiff City’s new striker Idriss Saadi is unlikely to pull on a Cardiff City shirt for Championship action until at least mid-October.
But Bluebirds manager Russell Slade believes the former French junior international can make an impact over the rest of this season.
“We won’t see Idriss pushing for a place in the matchday squad just yet and probably not until after the international break,” says Slade.
“He is a talented young player and we have brought him here to enhance our squad, but we will ensure he is ready for Championship football.
“Idriss is training hard and we will arrange a friendly during the international break when we hope he will have a long run-out.
“We have high hopes for him in the long-run, but we will give him time to adjust.”
Saadi, aged 23 and of Algerian descent, joined City from French second division team Clermont. He scored 18 league goals for Clermont last season.
The former St Etienne and Reims striker, who has played for France at under-16, under-17, under-18 and under-19 levels, earned the nickname ‘Le Taureau (The Bull)’ during his time with Clermont because of his powerful physique.
He is unlikely to be included in the squad for Cardiff’s next three Championship matches, against Rotherham (away), Charlton (home) and leaders Brighton (away), while he will hope to be in contention for the match at Preston North End after the international break.
That is at Deepdale on Saturday, October 17.

I doubt if he will be fully firing on all cylinders until just before Christmas. He will be taking on a physical ripe against robust defenders. Softly softly!!
