3 goals in 7 games will get him close to 20 if he keeps that record up. We haven't had a striker get near that in a long while. Kenny Miller was highly thought of didn't get close to that. We wank over le Fondre and he had 3 in 20 odd games.
Back our boy. He will come good. Natural finisher.

He does annoy me the way he gets pushed around sometimes because I think Doyle would put himself about more. He does make intelligent runs though and your post won me over when you said 'back our boy' because I couldn't agree more that we should be backing everyone in this team as we look a good outfit.

They all do, at one time or another. It's one of the hazards of playing for CCFC, no matter how good they are. Depressing. We should get behind our players more.

Love the way he finds space between midfield and strikers but not sure he's the right partner for Jones.

They just don't look a partnership to me. I've got no issue with Mason or Jones on their own but there doesn't seem a lot of dialogue between them at the moment. I can't remember many times on Tuesday where they combined and couldn't see them pointing to space to one another. Too be fair the hull defence were well organised and they will come up against poorer teams in the future.

With Whitts playing well the bully boys need to find another scapegoat and it looks like Mason is going to fill that position.
Joe just needs to keep doing what he has been and the goals will follow and that should shut the bully boys up.

Mason is this seasons scapegoat. Whitts is having time off.
Mason is lightweight, especially against 3 big centrebacks like Hull Tigers had.
But his record of 3 goals in 7 games proves he has something to offer this season.

Yea he is lightweight and that showed big time vs Hull. But I don't think he gets the service for his style. He likes to run on to the ball, but a lot of the time he's getting the ball to his feet with his back to goal where its a struggle.
Bring me back to the point I made in another thread that we need a different option in the centre, we have Ralls, Whits and Dika who don't really want to run with the ball and take people on. So, how can they thread a ball through to Mason?
We need someone who will run with the ball, play a 1-2 with someone or at the last minute just roll it in front of the strikers to run on to

I said in the match on Tuesday. Where are our runners from midfield, busting a gut to get into the penalty area?

There is non, Ralls did nothing wrong. Whitts did nothing wrong and neither did Dika but his job is more to break up the oppositions play.
Pilks comes into the middle if the balls is not coming to his side to help up, Pelts is not really an attacking FB so the only width really comes from Fabio currently.
Even though we did well on Tuesday passing the ball around and keeping hold of it. Hull were able to cope and were setup to deal with the high ball.
Maybe Kennedy could get some game time or Noone, he did ok at the tip of the diamond last season. Even if we start as we did, we have an option to change it a bit

This is what City should of changed to at half time, replace Pilks with Noone or something.

I don't think he is getting much shit.
We came across an experianced manager and better players on Tuesday and it showed. Any parks manager/ coach (or poster on a forum) would suss without massive analysis that we have a quality target man in Jones but no pace around him and we rarely get to the byline, so three centre halfs constantly pushing up should contain most attacks.
Mason needs it to feet and he rarely takes on defenders due to his lack of pace. Whitts/Rall have to be amazingly accurate to play him in and do so a few time each game, but he must take those chances. He has great reactions in the box, but we must get there first.
I bet in a game of defenders against attackers, our defenders would come out on top 90% of the time. If Manga and Turner were against Jones and Mason I would push out the defensive line 10 m from half way because either of those two would catch Jones or mason within 10 meters even with a head start. This is why we are trying to pull team around using the Whitts much moaned about side ways possesion passes.
The other option would be to ditch our expensive central midfielders and use Ralls and A N Other to run beyond the strikers more, but that leaves you open to counter attacks as were the norm under clueless Ole.
we haven't a burner who can last beyond 15 mins, so its up to Joe to take the chances he has been given.
