Cardiff City boss Russell Slade says his team were denied THREE clear-cut penalties during Hull City defeat

Slade said referee Chris Sarginson got it wrong over a number of decisions which he felt should have gone the Bluebirds' way

Tuesday 15th September 2015

Russell Slade reckons Cardiff City got hit with a triple whammy after the Bluebirds were denied THREE nailed-on penalties as they lost their unbeaten record at the hands of Hull.

The Bluebirds boss admitted he was left scratching his head why referee Chris Sarginson waved away a hat-trick of Cardiff claims for spot kicks to ruin their hopes of equalling a ten-year best run of seven games undefeated.

But, after the Tigers claimed the 2-0 victory courtesy of goals from Mohamed Diame and Abel Hernandez, Slade refused to be downbeat after hailing the performance offered up by his men.

And after challenging them to get more creative in the final third, he has called for another winning run to start come Saturday's clash at Rotherham.

Slade will hope for more luck from the officials come the trip to Yorkshire after he said: “It was frustrating because we has three very strong penalty shouts in the game and it's disappointing we didn't land one of those.

“The fans were angry and we were upset with the decisions and made our feelings known – you have to be careful with what you say but it's difficult because (he) got it wrong.

“There was a high kick on Joe Ralls not given because they said it was too low but Joe has barely bent his head and if that's not dangerous play I'm not sure what is.

“Then Joe Mason was tugged in the box and Ralls later had a shot from the edge of the box and Dawson's only got two hands on it and they are not in line with his body so I'm confused with the ruling.”

But Slade added: “No-one likes losing but we know if we perform to that level and find a bit more in the final third and be more ruthless then it bodes well because these will be a top six team and this was more of a test of where we are – and I don't think it was a 2-0 defeat and we just fell the wrong side of some fine lines.”

Agree with RS comments on final third options and finishing and I do feel we need another striker to bolster that. Completely agree that we were robbed by yet another at best 'questionable' ref. They say that the result doesn't lie but quite often, it does. There are many valid criticisms of the British game and the poor quality of the officials is one for me that is key to be addressed but it they seem like a law unto themselves and answerable to no-one.
