FABIO

Chris Wathan's player ratings
DAVID MARSHALL(CAPT): Apart from a few long range hopefuls, had little to do in the opening period aside from picking the ball out of his net. Made one key save from Clucas late on. 7
LEE PELTIER: As solid as he usually is defensively but lacks belief going forward and too often space on the flank was wasted with a hopeful ball into the box. 6
MATT CONNOLLY: Spent most of the opening half trying to build from the back with the kind of influence that should retain his place in the side before making way at the break with what was assumed to be an injury. 7
SEAN MORRISON: Did the bits and pieces well and was a threat on the attacking set-piece but was turned too easily by Aluko in the build-up to Diame's goal in Hull's only real threat as he struggled with the livewire all night. 6
MAN OF THE MATCH
FABIO: In the wars as part of an all-action first-half where he got forward with purpose. Took a cut to the head and took one for the team as he took the law into his own hands to stop a Hull counter and temperament needs work but very good in general. 8
ANTHONY PILKINGTON: Good intensity to his work off the ball and did much to limit Hull but did little with the little ball he saw on the front foot. 6
KAGISHO DIKGACOI: Continuing to impress, especially going forward even if you would imagine that would be Whittingham's more natural domain. Keeps the ball moving, keeps the options open and the back door shut. 8
PETER WHITTINGHAM: Some teasing set-pieces that asked plenty of Hull's three centre-backs but passing was otherwise off and appeared slow to react to situations, earning himself a booking for one rash lunge after one such occasion. 6
JOE RALLS: Brought the best out of Fabio by linking well and offering the Brazilian his attacking space while also closing and covering the gaps well while also having the energy to add a body to the middle. 8
JOE MASON: Usual clever movement that kept Hull's defenders on their toes and pulled out of position without really getting much chance to get a sight of goal. 7
KENWYNE JONES: Chased hard to try and win the first aerial balls for others to benefit from and some neat touches when the ball was into his feet - which wasn't often enough. 7

The REF!!! He singlehanded won the game for Hull. Why are we voting for Cardiff players? It's not like they beat the appointed official.

Fabio was magnifico! I have criticized his defending in the past, but that was his best ever performance for us.
