I think you maybe onto something here mate! Good idea to actually ask the fans who are staying away what would make them come back. After all there is so much talk about our low crowds etc and people who currently go (including myself) giving opinions on why people are staying away but what about their opinion on things - it could be the link between higher crowds and happier fans etc

Standing up, cheap tickets, less of the 'make some noise' crap, players on sensible wages, less foreigners...basically everything that the modern game is about.
Thats me fecked....started watching the parks, more enjoyable.

After 22 years with a ST by the age of 28 this year I decided not to bother. Spending £400 on something I didn't enjoy anymore or believe in, whilst in my position was un fathomable.
The promise of a hard working team attempting to play football is a start, but there has been no atmosphere at the CCS since we moved there which put simply bores me a little.
Reduce ST prices to £300 and I may take a look into going back but that extra £100 is something I'm just not prepared to pay for something that may or may not bore me.

Some Welshmen in the team would be a help, but after 25 years of dragging myself around the country from Hartlepool to Barnet and everywhere inbetween I think I have broke the habit of a lifetime and cant ever see myself being a regular down Cardiff again probably take in a couple of games a season but prefer to save my money for wales trips nowadays
Mon Sep 14, 2015 9:04 pm
Just love excuses I paid £350 for my season ticket cracking value in my eyes if you support the city you be down there.
And I do stand all game in the standing area in the canton.
Can understand the Wales games just been to Cyprus myself cracking time if money is the issue then fair enough.
Mon Sep 14, 2015 9:11 pm
Never stopped going and never will.I payed £345 season ticket and that is a good price i think.
Mon Sep 14, 2015 9:17 pm
Cyprus and Belgium were amazing away trips, cant wait for France then Moldova, don't think people are making excuses but trying to explain why they have fallen out of love with following Cardiff, fans will always come and go, and watch them all come back if we stay top two! Its not for me though, I hated the premier league experience, much prefered life in the championship but I have done my time and moves on

Being made to feel wanted by the club again. Not just a customer. Went to the AFC Wimbledon match after staying away for 3 years I think it was. Enjoyed being back there but was ruined by the Stewards who seemed determined to destroy any atmosphere created by the fans.
I understand that the Club has Rules and Laws about standing, but if the fans aren't causing harm, and are cheering the boys on, then that should be enough to let things go.
Many fans feel the same at the moment from what I've been speaking to.
Mon Sep 14, 2015 10:16 pm
How many genuine fans do we have then?

Finally renewed last week after swaying all summer.
Why did I sway in the first place?
1.
Rusell Slade, his appointment, his tactics, his team selection, his transfer dealings, and just can't warm to him.
2.
No Welsh players, i cringe when I see this Welsh squad living the dream Together/Stronger going down in history, and the history books showing not a Cardiff City player in sight. I need to identify with my team, I need at least a couple of homegrown players in a blue shirt to reconnect.
3.
The atmosphere and hypocritical fans moaning. Fans calling over stayaway fans when we need them, labelling fans as either diehards or plastics or whatever, what does it matter, every club has this, we should embrace and welcome anyone who wants to come and watch us. The atmosphere will improve the more fans we have, and all the moaners wanting to stand and sing then join us in The Canton and lets get bouncing. And this repeated thing to swop the family stand with the Canton, this will never ever happen, I know I spent the day in CCS towers on Saturday and asked all these questions.
4.
Cost. I think its good value for money I really do, but its not value for money if your losing the love, and I have been.
5.
Wales team. Been going to games since 1980, the dream is finally on, would rather keep cash for the away trips.
6.
Vincent Tan, to much damage done
7.
My friends have all stopped going, mainly because of all or combination of the above, we were once up to 15, now we are two, the social experience has died.
So why
did I renew?
1.
Because I love and obsess over my club, and despite all of the above, it still wasn't enough to stop me. Then seeing that blue adidas kit and the death of red, the decision was made. And am very happy with my
blue S/T card, and also they treated my 5 year old to a memorable day on Saturday, and spoiled us both. Thank you Wayne Nash and Adam Gillett

Was 15 of you at one time, how many would come back if we was in prem. Not having a go but i bet most would find the love, time, money so on.
Tue Sep 15, 2015 5:54 am
After 12 years (would have been longer but was in the armed force's) of being a season ticket holder and 30+ years for my old man, we both decided not to renew last year and just pick and choose the matches we go to.
The main reason was the whole match day experience, can't put my finger on one particular thing, could prob list about 10 things that influenced our choice.
It just began to feel like a chore to go down and we weren't enjoying it.
Last year we didn't go down half as many times as we thought we would and didn't miss it.
Will be doing the same this year but as of yet haven't seen a game.
Tue Sep 15, 2015 5:58 am
I haven't renewed my season ticket this year due to the shenanigans over the last couple of seasons but still follow the city and go down for the games I can but at £32 a ticket for the Huddersfield game I'm not surprised we had one of our lowest attendances at the game.
Surely if the tickets were priced better at maybe £20 - £25 we would get more fans there a better atmosphere to spur the team on! A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush mr tan needs to learn this!
Tue Sep 15, 2015 6:04 am
Atmosphere is total rubbish in these all seater stadiums. One of the pulls for me was the atmosphere at Ninian Park in the 80s.
Tickets are definitely overpriced especially when there are billions of pounds being pumped into football but nothing coming back to the fans.
Most season ticket holders miss a few games per season so there are no perks now to being a season ticket holder. You could just turn up on the day and save money over the season and sit where you want.
Its the atmosphere and pricing for me.

Gave up my season ticket when all the red nonsense started.
Still love the city, and go now and again, but in the 3 years I've been away I've had another child, and I love spending time with the family on the weekend. My oldest daughter loves the football, and I take her when I can. As the girls get older, I may well renew adnd take them, but for now it's the odd game here and there for me

I agree the atmosphere hasn't been good at City games but I don't think you can blame the stadium , it's been rocking in there for Wales games and the Super Cup Final . It's the fans not making the atmosphere at City , I think if we played more attacking football than defensive football

These are important points. You simply can't blame the stadium when there have been times when the CCS atmosphere has surpassed the Ninian Park experience.
Were you there for Leicester when we held out for a win with 10 men ? What about Chops 2 against the Jacks, Man City, Forest in the promotion year, Charlton, etc in promotion year, and I could go on.
If the atmosphere can be good on those occasions then it clearly can't be the fault of the stadium when it's poor. Atmosphere is, and will always, be down to the fans who are there.

None of his points are valid, you can stand all game in the Canton no hassle, tickets are well priced for championship level, most of the team are on sensible wages bar 1 or 2 exceptions and 8 of the starting 11 v huddersfield were from the UK/Ireland.
I just love reading everyones excuses for not going.

There are a good 20 that I know of that don't go as much and they all state atmosphere as one of the main reasons
The banter days have gone and when the team are playing shit at least you had that

I agree.
I watched part of the West Ham game last night an Newcastle had one British player in their starting line up. I would hate to see that for us.
Also I don't know why people keep complaining about the price as you could of got an adult ticket for the Hudderfield game for as little as £16. I paid £14.
You can stand up if you want to. If you have a genuine excuse due to not liking football any longer or money issues then fair enough but some of the excuses like this guy are pretty pathetic.

I want the hotdogs to be cheaper and the bovril to be hotter.
also I want us to win every game in Barcelona fashion
and I want a hug by the stewards when I get there

Same here - laughable.
The latest one being the lack of welsh players
Did not seem to matter in previous years - any old excuse will do though - until we start looking good for the Prem and then they will forget all that

1. You can stand up anywhere in the Canton
2. Tickets are A LOT cheaper than previous seasons
3. Ali is gone is no there's no more "make some noise"
4. Most players are arguably on sensible wages other than Kenwyne Jones (which is under negotiations)
5. Less foreigners?

are you one of those
No valid excuse there mate

20 people in a room - they create an atmosphere.
20 people leave that room - no atmosphere
In think I can see where the problem lies
