New signing Jonny Williams featured as Nottingham Forest Under-21s beat Cardiff City 2-1 at the City Ground.
The Crystal Palace loanee made his first appearance in a Reds shirt, as he looked to build up his match fitness following a groin injury he picked up during a spell at Ipswich Town last season. And he managed 64 minutes, before being substituted in the second half.
The Reds took a sixth minute lead when Joe Worrall headed home Jack Kelly's free-kick and retained their advantage through to the break.
The visitors saw plenty of the ball in the first half and Tommy O'Sullivan drew goalkeeper Tim Erlandsson into action, but Forest could have gone further ahead when Oliver Burke fired inches wide from out on the right.
Cardiff drew level just before the hour mark when Will Abbotts side-footed home a left-hand cross.
But Burke made it 2-1 ten minutes later, scoring what proved to be the winner after Kelly had shown great persistence to reach the byline and pull the ball back.
FOREST: Erlandsson, Karo, Worrall, Iacovitti, Kelly, Burke, Yates, Grant, Petravicius, Williams (McDonagh 64), Thorne (Cash 74). Subs not used: Durrant, Thomas, Walton.

Don't know if Will Abbotts was in trial last night or whether he has left Bolton and signed for us.
