Ameobi is highly rated by many Newcastle fans :thumbright: but many are saying he can't keep going for more than 30 mins of a game?
As soon as he has had a good run etc you will see he is out of breath and blowing?
Some are saying not as a joke, but that they believe he has asthma ? ? ?

Anyone believe this?

Paula Radcliffe has severe asthma. Treated with the right medication it won't affect daily life.

Nope, he was excellent all game against us for Boro. Also, asthma doesn't stop you running for 90 mins.

He needs minutes on the pitch, and will get fitter as the season goes on

He was blowing on Saturday after 20 mins think he just needs more fitness

Don't forget fitness is not measured On how quick you get out of breath but how quick you recover! More fame time will help!

Really hope he plays from the start tomorrow. At home we need to be more offensive and we can't keep waiting for him to come on every game to change it.

I can definately see this in him. Dont get me wrong the guy is gifted and brings a spark to our side but I do wonder if he started the game would he have the same mentality. It works for us in current format.

U seen glimpses saturday when Mason went off he certainly didnt want to play the lone striker and was almost trying to shift into midfield (ok I know only 5-10 mins left but still)

I go along with this. Let him start and let's try to attack more especially in home games. Except for a little flurry just after the game started we didn't do anything until the 30the minute on Saturday.
Give him an hour and build up his match fitness. The same as Dikacoi.

I think they'd know if he had asthma with all the medical examinations these guys have, they measure there heart rate and lung capacity etc regularly

Care to provide a link?

When Newcastle fans knew he was coming to us you put up a link to one of their forums and most of them were basically saying "not good enough", now you're suggesting he's highly rated?

Also, please provide a link to where the Newcastle fans are suggesting he might have asthma?

Cheers in advance!

Deffo asthmatic, saw him take a hit of his inhaler before came on, but glided past the opposition, something he wasn't doing the other week when he scored. Lung capacity improved with game time.

condition.

Ameobi, who also plays for
England U21s, was diagnosed with the condition at 12 years old, but he has been
determined not to let it hold him back in life.

The 20-year-old said: “It was a
massive blow when I was diagnosed with asthma and I took it really hard.

“I thought I always wanted to be
a footballer and I wondered ‘would I be able to do this or not?’ But I had a lot of comfort from my family and also my
brother, Shola, so it got me back on my feet.

“I feel like I have fought it and
I have come out on top.

But this is just the beginning
as I’m only starting out, hopefully I’ll be able to get to the top of my game,”
he told Chronicle London.
