Bolton and Cardiff join the race to sign Manchester United striker James Wilson on loan

The England Under-21 striker has found first-team chances hard to come by and has been tipped for a spell on loan

Cardiff City and Bolton have joined the race to sign Manchester United’s England under-21 international striker James Wilson on-loan.

Wilson, 19, has yet to figure in the first-team for United so far this season.

Last term, he made 17 appearances - scoring twice.

Derby County are leading the race to sign Wilson, but Cardiff boss Russell Slade and Bolton manager Neil Lennon are on his trail as well.

Dave ThompsonImpact: Wilson netted on his England Under-21 debut last week
Slade said: “He’s obviously a player of strong ability. Manchester United think a lot of him.

There would be something wrong if everyone turned away when he was available. It’s not a no from us.”

Lennon added: “I think Manchester United have said there’s half a dozen clubs in for him and I could understand that. There would be an interest there, no question.”

Would he get a look in at Derby though? They've got a lot of strikers
With Saadi and Macheda injured, he would be invaluable for us and ,hopefully, get more game time.

Someone said "would he get a look in at Derby", I would argue, would he get a look in at Cardiff, knowing Slade's reputation

he seems to have confidence in Mason, and though i may have reservations about him he does have 3 in 6 now.

but given that, im not sure another striker is needed right now.
