Keep winning and crowds will return

Sun Sep 13, 2015 8:24 am

The current attendance is a result in my opinion of several things (not just 1 factor):

1. Relegation from the PL
2. The football last season and sometimes non exciting way of playing - however we are winning games!
3. The lasting effect of the rebrand (I don't think this had a massive bearing on it but it hasn't helped)
4. Many people were ready to write slade off from day 1. (I have always supported him for the record although not his biggest fan in the world).
5. Some fans are getting really fed up of other fans behaviour and Negativity.
6. Cost (in certain areas of the stadium) not exhaustionate prices but could have been 10% lower.

So these are a few of the problems but what are the solutions? Again I believe more than one solution is needed:

We have already had the back to blue and new kit for which would have helped (I think the crowds would have been even lower if this hadnt happened!
Keep winning or stay in the top 6 will help. people need to believe in ccfc, slade and the players etc. which is reflected by results.
A open letter to fans that have stayed away in the press? This is in no terms pleading or begging them to return - it is simply asking them to give us another chance.
Our own fans can help by getti thier mates back down the stadium etc.

Any other suggestions? I do think ultimately winning games and success will bring many back!

I don't think the true hardcore fans have gone anywhere. The crowds we are getting now are similar to what we've always had when playing at this level. The last few years have been the exception. Traditionally, we've had 14 to 18 thousand playing in this division, and if we are looking like serious promotion contenders half way through the season, going on past experience from many years back, we can expect this to increase to between 18 and anything up to 25000. We need to accept that this is a medium sized club, and most of our true supporters were there yesterday. Success will obviously attract extra fans to the ground, but these are the take it or leave it fans rather than supporters who will turn up whatever the circumstances. The re-brand has not helped, but I doubt if there are that many supporters who will dig their heels in and stop supporting their club forever because of it. For true supporters, the club is almost in your blood, and it's difficult to stay away from for any length of time. Things could be worse, there are still plenty of people who remember the team playing in an almost deserted Ninian Park.

Two good posts and I would agree with most although 14k average in this division is not true, since we arrived ar the CCS it's been anything but 14k granted it's been on the back of year on year seasons where something has been happening.

All clubs have hardcore and have floaters, I don't like the term plastic or glory hunters. We are all different, for me it's in my blood as simple as that and I will stick by them as I always have good or bad

True about the better attendances alongside seasons back to back with something happening- near miss on the playoffs at ninian park. Then the new stadium for which many wanted to experience so bought a season ticket for that reason. Then the same season we made the play-off final. The next season was that when we signed Craig Bellamy? And we're a real force to be reckoned with. Then Malay and the league cup final and playoffs! Then the rebrand but people stayed as the promise of investment and likelyhood of promotion beckoned. Then .....promotion! Big attendances ever! Then .....relegation but people had already renewed! With the realisation of possibly no promotion or anything exciting happening a lot less have renewed! I'm telling you now exciting g things bring fans and if we can keep this up crowds will return! :bluebird: :bluescarf:
