' OUR PATIENCE PAID OFF '

That for me was a ground out, solid, professional, patient performance that got the rewards it deserved.

The first half was not a brilliant spectacle for fans of either side but I believe City were the team who were trying to make things happen, they were patient in the build up looking to open up gaps in the Huddersfield defence, we did open them up twice in the first half and more composure could have made the result a lot more emphatic.

City did not launch the ball forward in a hit and hope fashion but chose to play everything out from the back and build from there, there was moaning and groaning in the stands when we getting the ball fast enough for many of the fans but I personally would rather see us try and play through opponents than lump it forward like we did many times last year.

I was convinced that if City got a goal they would find it easier to open up Huddersfiekd again, the Terriers were playing very defensive and City had to deal with that and they didn't panic, the players stuck to the task and by doing so collected another three points and made it three wins on a trot.

Listening to the radio on the way home and it was said that the international break came at the the wrong time for Russell Slade and the players, I disagree with that and thought it was good timing for City to reflect on the good things they have achieved at the start of the season and spend more time in the training ground going over patterns of play, which I think we saw today.

We do lack pace and I believe that is where the frustration of fans is coming from, maybe that was Russell Slade's thinking when he made the change of Ameobi for Kenwyne Jones, and his decision was justified.

Ameobi played a part in both City goals.

Confidence is growing, results are encouraging, performances are improving.

Are we going to win the league or get promoted ?

I think it is far too early for bold predictions like that but nobody can argue that we are definitely going in the right direction and long may it continue.

Bring on Hull this Tuesday, I really want City to win our home games but Hull will be a difficult side to beat and I will say now I would take a draw right now if it were an option.

Credit to the manager and the team today and even though there is only six games gone, I would rather be one place from the top than the bottom.

Agree Carl we were a little of the pace in the first half but grew into it at the end of first half and continued and kept Huddersfield chances to a minimum but Fabio was caught out st times but stuck to it and the substitution made thr difference and there was no need for booing and it made the difference and we got a good 3 points well done Slade and the boys. :thumbright: :sladein: :ayatollah:

Anyone who would settle for a draw at home, even before a ball is kicked, is a defeatist in my book, just my opinion of course

I am far from a defeatist but more of a realist.

I think Hull are a good side with many players who played Premier League last season.

I am hopeful of 10 points in September, that's because I would like to think we can beat Huddersfield, Rotherham and Charlton and if we did that have a guess which game I realistically believe will be the one we may just drop points?

we need to win our home games if we have any ambitions of getting promoted . We have a solid team and my small wager on us getting promoted this year is looking goo after 6 games ;)

Did you go to today's game
What a nonesense statement
Amoebi was blowing and out on his feet after just 15 minutes ffs
He's been the difference when coming on so why change our plan
When he's ready for a start our manager will start him
At the moment if he started he wouldn't last 30 minutes :sladein: :bluescarf: :bluebird:

Yes against the top team that are in form.

Personally I will be happy with a draw against them.

Yes I was there and if Ameoli had started today instead of Mason we would have been at least 1 up after 30 mins when as you put it he would have had to come off.
The only one with pace and who can beat a man.
Just my opinion.

A balanced and positive report Carl. Doesn't belong on this board with the doom and gloom merchants.

Another good read from you Carl, see you Tuesday :thumbright:

A draw against Hull at home would be a good result in my book. I'll be very surprised if they're not in the top six at least come the end of the season. Nothing defeatist about wanting to avoid defeat at home.

As for Ameobi, I saw him start at MK Dons and didn't impress me at all. But he did well when I saw him come on against Wolves just a few days before, maybe it's best to use him as an impact sub right now.

I'll expect an unchanged team on Tuesday, unless Peltier is injured - then I'd bring in Manga and move Connolly to right back, or bring in Malone and put Fabio at right back.

Manga for Morrison I would move Ralls into the centre as he is not a wide player, Noone out wide and drop Whitts to the bench, bring Sammy on with about 30 mins left when defenders are tired
