David Marshall
11/09/15
The big name the Bluebirds kept was number one goalkeeper David Marshall. The Scotland international had been subject to a bid from Premier League West Brom, but that was firmly rebuffed by Cardiff and with the Baggies not reaching the fee wanted the shot-stopper is back between the posts in the Welsh capital for the foreseeable future at least.
It is believed Marshall was interested in a return to the top-flight, but Slade insisted his goalkeeper’s head would not be turned by the attention or the fact the proposed move never materialised.
“There is nothing wrong with ambition, is there?” added Slade.
“ I think every single one of my players should and ought to have the ambition to play in the Premier League. David is no different from that. However, he is very professional, he’s happy at Cardiff and he will do everything he can to be the number one goalkeeper certainly in this league this season. There are no issues at all.”
