Travelling football fans

Every year 800k football fans travel to the UK generating a massive income in local communities and respective football clubs.
Football tourism is a growing business and a smart way to generate club growth and local business. The numbers and nationalities from 2014's top ten is out, and might set a target for clubs who wish to exploit this angle of business.



1. Ireland 121 000

2. Norway 93 000

3. Sweden 58 000

4. USA 53 000

5. Netherlands 43 000

6. Spain 39 000

7. France 35 000

8. Germany 34 000

9. Denmark 33 000

10. Australia 32 000

Sorry if im being daft mate.
This refers to the number of travellers from each country in the previous season to English league games?

This refers to the number of travellers from each country in the previous season to English league games?

800k travel to UK, bying a match ticket, rents a hotel room, visit the local pub and attractions. The numbers above are travellers from each of the top 10 represented countries of travellers :thumbright:

I would imagine a large number of the Irish would be to Celtic, then Man Utd and Liverpool.
Staggering numbers from Spain considering their league, likewise Germany.
Those aussies must be loopy.

Would be interesting to see break down by club and how that compares to other countries visited.
(Well i would find it interesting!)

Cheers. I'm rather surprised my self with those numbers. I would say there is a lot of opportunities to be made, especially in the U.S. Market..

Die hard supporters of prem clubs are not happy that foreigners are getting tickets ahead of local supporters.
