Merthyr Town have been voted best grassroots club in Europe by Uefa.
Martyrs fans have rebuilt their club over the last five years, earned three promotions and have no struck Uefa gold by receiving the 2015 award for Best Grassroots club.
A statement by Uefa said: “Merthyr Town FC embodies the very essence of sport and community spirit.
“They embrace education, fun football and small-sided games, while facilitating the sport for a wide target group.
“With the pitch always in use, the club is able to use football as a means of tackling social issues at the heart of the town.”
Merthyr Town, who play in the Southern League Premier and have a strong junior section, play on an artificial 3G pitch and the club’s community development officer Elliott Evans said: “What sets us apart is that we’re looking to be a club for everyone, not just for the elite, the kids at the academy, the fans, but for everyone of all ages, gender, ability, disability.
“That’s what makes it special.”
The Martyrs have an FA Cup first qualifying round tie at Plymouth Parkway’s Bolitho Park ground tomorrow.
Manager Steve Jenkins and his Merthyr team take on a Parkway side who are mid-table in the South West Peninsular League and won 4-1 against Southern League Tiverton Town in the preliminary round.
The next Southern League match for Merthyr Town is at Premier Division leaders Chippenham Town on Saturday week.

Went up there last year for my little brother's football match and saw a couple of Swansea shirts lurking about. I also know two lads up there who support them.
However, I also met a lad on a night out with a Bluebird tattooed on his arm and he was out with a massive group who all supported Cardiff.
I think it is predominantly Cardiff but there are a minority of Swansea.
Merthyr to Cardiff - 23 miles.
Merthyr to Swansea - 30 miles.
Cardiff City need to step their game up or we could risk losing our youngsters into supporting them down West. We've certainly had a good start to the season and hopefully we can continue that game by game.
With that said, congratulations to Merthyr Town FC!
