Shola Ameobi, who used to play for Newcastle United himself, is now a free agent and has been on trial at Huddersfield during the international break
Sammy Ameobi, the Bluebirds’ loan signing from Newcastle, could meet up with older brother Shola at Cardiff City Stadium this Saturday (3pm).
Huddersfield play manager Russell Slade’s team and they have had 33-year-old Shola on trial during the international break.
Ameobi junior will be in City’s matchday squad this weekend, while Huddersfield manager Chris Ramsey has yet to make a decision on Shola.
They are in need of a striker following the departure of midfield player Jacob Butterfield, signed for Derby County in a transfer worth £5m, while Jordy Hiwula has been loaned out to Wigan Athletic.
Nottingham Forest striker Jamie Paterson is one of three players on loan at Huddersfield, along with Middlesbrough and Gambia winger Mustapha Carayol plus Wigan and Wales midfield player Emyr Huws.
Shola, though, is a free agent and could join a club at any time, although the new loan window opened on Wednesday and runs until November 25.
Premier League clubs are not allowed to make any new signings in this period, although they can loan players into the Football League. No contracted overseas players can be brought in.

That is now 2 different articles in a day by Terry Phillips where he says the Huddersfield Town manager is Chris Ramsey.
Once is careless. Twice is embarrassing.
There are only five black managers in the Football League, and 3 of them are in the Championship and called 'Chris'. But you would expect the WOL lead football writer to know his Ramseys from his Hughtons and his Powells !

I don't think Terry Phillips is an idiot and I don't think he is racist.
He seems to have a mental block on Chris Powell's name. I can only think that he is confusing the 2 managers because they share a first name or because they have both been prominent in media interviews in recent months about the under-representation of black managers and coaches in the Football League - and both spoke very well. I can't think of any other connections or reasons for mixing them up.
Whatever the reason for the repeat mis-identification of the Huddersfield Town manager, it is embarrassing. If you're convinced he is an idiot and just gets his Chris's in a twist, then fine.
