' What's happened to Cardiff City reject Jo Inge Berget? He's getting set for Champions League and Euro 2016 '

Every Cardiff fan remembers a striker who left and scored goals elsewhere. Gestede, Odemwingie and Cornelius have all done it recently, step forward Jo Inge Berget

Do you remember Jo Inge Berget, the Norwegian striker who left Cardiff City after just one appearance?

Fear not, most Bluebirds fans have forgotten him too.

The 24-year-old who spent a failed loan spell at Celtic last season, is now firing goals in for Malmo and Norway, knocking the Bhoys out of the Champions League in the meantime.

Berget has reinvented himself, having shaved off his long hair, ditched his trademark hair band and grown a beard that makes him look more like a Viking warrior than an out-of-form striker.

Having secured Malmo's passage to the Champions League, where they will face the small matter of Real Madrid, Paris Saint Germain and Shakhtar Donetsk, Berget, who has eight goals so far this season, has been on the international trail this week.

And he's kept the form up, having played 90 minutes in Norway's 1-0 win in Bulgaria before scoring and winning man-of-the-match on Sunday night Norway stormed to Euro 2014 qualifying by beating Croatia 2-0 in Oslo.

Not only did he score one but he was only denied a second when his shot deflected in off Vedran Ćorluka. Corks were popping for Berget later as he was given the man-of-the-match.

Next Tuesday, star Brazilian centre backs Thiago Silva and David Luiz will be worrying about Berget as Malmo head to Paris to take on the French all-stars led by their former hero Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Two things. He play on the left wing, and he did score two goals against Croatia. First goal pure class :thumbright:
He also made a rather interesting interview lately on his time at Cardiff, and how deep he felt the problems within the club run. Also very understanding about his lack of chances to play with the pressure the club was put under, and the need to play established players, how ever frustrating it must have been for him..
