Hal Robson-Kanu: Wales should have been awarded a penalty

Wales striker Hal Robson-Kanu says Wales should have had a penalty in their 0-0 draw with Israel.

The result means Wales need one more point to clinch qualification for the Euro 2016 finals in France.

But Robson-Kanu could not believe the additional assistant referee did not award a penalty when Eitan Tibi appeared to handle the ball in the second half.

"It was a blatant handball," said the 26-year-old Reading forward.

"I was shocked to see the official standing so close, so it was surprising he didn't give it, but it was just one of those days.

"The official I was looking at - he obviously didn't want to put his neck on the line and if he had done he would have made the right decision, but there you go."

Wales need one point from their remaining two matches, away to Bosnia-Herzegovina and at home to Group B bottom side Andorra.

Robson-Kanu is confident Wales - still unbeaten in eight matches and top of the qualifying group - will finish the job and qualify for the finals of a major tournament for the first time in 57 years.

"We'll be fully focused on getting the job done and I'm sure we will," he added on BBC Radio Wales Sport.

And when we get there we'll be looking to achieve something special."

I know everyone moans about referees, but he is right it was blatant hand ball... the player moved his arm towards the ball to stop the cross, outside the area the ref would have given it.

What's the point having the offical on the goal line if he's not going to get those shouts right. Waste of time.

It's very frustrating as if we had scored it would have been a perfect day. It's annoying about the goalie official but I guess even they can miss things. No point worrying about it now we just have to focus on the next match and make sure we get a point or more.

I think he's just there to judge if the ball goes over the line or not as UEFA dont use goal line technology. Does he have any authority at all to make any calls?

Also, should have had 2 pens IMO. The one where the boy blocked the cross with his arm and the other one where the ball dropped into the box and he handballed it and the refe gave a corner. I think the latter is what Hal R-K is talking about.

One of them made the call to give a penalty against us away to Andorra, so I'm going to say yes

No, they're defo there to aid the ref with decisions.
