' Romanian international Gabriel Tamas makes Cardiff City debut in Under-21 league clash with Bolton Wanderers. '

Monday 7th September 2015

Tamas, signed as a free agent last month, played his first game for the Bluebirds at their Vale of Glamorgan training base.

Cardiff: L O’Reilly, J Barnum-Bobb, T James, R Patten, G Tamas, C Watkins, M Southam (T Burridge 65), T Wharton (J Veale 65), E Phipps (A Noor 77), T O’Sullivan (capt), T Roche.

Romanian international Gabriel Tamas made his Cardiff City debut when he played 90 minutes in an Under-21 league match against Bolton Wanderers.

The 31-year-old Tamas, signed as a free agent last month, was an an over-age player and was scarcely troubled at Cardiff’s Vale of Glamorgan Resort training ground as the sides shared a 1-1 draw.

Manager Russell Slade watched Tamas, playing alongside Curtis Watkins, help the Bluebirds deal with steady pressure from a strong Bolton team.

City went ahead after 15 minutes after Watkins produced an outstanding crossfield pass to pick out right-back Jazzi Barnum-Bobb’s run from 40 yards away.

The cross was delivered accurately and Eli Phipps stopped to head past goalkeeper Ross Fitzsimmons.

City goalkeeper Luke O’Reilly made a spectacular one-handed save when a shot took a late deflection before the visitors equalised on 80 minutes.

Substitute Alex Samizadeh ran clear when City defenders failed to deal with a high ball over the top and fired past O’Reilly.

That was the first goal conceded by Cardiff in more than 350 minutes of Professional Development League football, ending a run of three consecutive clean sheets.

Cardiff should have grabbed victory when Tyler Roche crossed only for substitute Jamie Veale to head wide.

Totally agree , another pointless signing in my opinion and lets see Tommy O'Sullivan given a chance
