Worst day of my life for many years, my 15 year old Collie Cross (OREO- kids named her) died last night she hadn't been very well for a few days(no point calling vet,she had heart and kidney problems). Went out to pick my daughter up from a works party and when I came back she had passed away. Broke my f*cking heart, she was so placid and loving. We just buried her with all her cuddly toys and blanket in the back garden. City better win saturday to cheer me up.

Sounds like she had a good innings mate, and was no doubt loved and cared for, a big part of the family. Some small crumbs of comfort is the fact she died at home, and you didn't have to go through the trauma of taking her to the vets to be put down. She would have felt safe at the end at least

RIP OREO. So sorry to hear about your dog, its so awful when you lose a pet as they are one of the family. The grief is so real and don't let anyone tell you it's not. Take some time out to remember her, cry because you miss her, laugh because of the funny things she did and reminisce about the happy memories you had with her - no one can ever take them away from you. She will want you to live a happy life to the full and one day you'll see her again. You will feel abit better in time but at the moment, rest assured that she will be with you everywhere you go - she never actually left you.
just some tiny advice from a massive animal lover

Hope your doing ok today mate - still thinking of you (sent you a message yesterday). we lost our cat about 2-3 weeks ago (for which I posted on here about). It was very upsetting and one day we felt a bit better then the next it would hit you again and I'd feel very numb! we have accepted he has gone now and are able to remember the good times but for he first week or so it was very hard to even accept it.
I think after all this we need cardiff to gain promotion to cheer us up - let alone just winning on Saturday!

Exactly how I feel Annis. Reading this makes me feel upset for when our dog goes. Absolutely devastated I know.
RIP Oreo

Thanks(Once a blue always a blue 44) for your kind thoughts, got up feeling ok but then you look around expecting to see her and she's not there. I would go to the local shop for my morning paper and would be sitting by the door waiting for me,that hurt when I opened the front door and of course she wasn't there. I suppose things like that will get easier as time goes on. Thanks again for your concern. Yeah City DO owe us both a promotion after all this. I think I can remember your post about your cat ,sorry I didn't send you a message but to be honest I have only recently started posting on this messageboard even though I have been reading the posts on here for years.
I hope you and your family are recovering from the shock of losing your cat.

Don't know you Avondale but I certainly feel your pain,my dog is eight know and whenever someone posts one of these threads it brings it home to you that they don't live forever, how I will cope I don't know.Anyway I'm thinking of you and hope the pain will ease for you as the days go by,and as for animals going to heaven who knows, but one thing for sure if my boy isn't there well I don't want to go there either.

We had to say good bye to our cocker spaniel Bartley on November 15th 2013. One of the worst days of my life.
My thoughts are with you. Dogs are true, loyal friends who are part of the family. RIP Oreo.

Mate , I went through the same thing as you. Had my dog which was my first ever , The love they give you is unbelievable mate and it is a massive loss. I'd take comfort in the fact that your dog passed away in familiar surroundings. I wish that happened to mine , It's not nice watching the vet put your dog to sleep. I waited a few months then got another , He'll never replace my first dog but he's just as loving and a little but naughtier.

Dogs are the best.
I can remember bringing my dalmatian home when I was about 5 years old. He was terrified!. He took up a large amount of my favourite memories from when I was younger.
