Heavy handed stewarding, yet again.

Sun Sep 06, 2015 9:25 pm

About 10 stewards resorted to bully boy tactics by throwing out a fan at the back of the Ninian Stand because he raied a Palenstinien flag, it had nothing offensive written on it, and he did nothing offensive, he just raised it in the air, his friend was also ejected for asking why his friend was being rejected. This to me was bullying and hooliganism, but hey they are stewards so they have the right to push paying customers about :bluebird:

What the f**k did they expect? To be applauded?

you make a fair point but I feel it's ironic that the woman with him who was also with him would probably be stoned to death if she wore the clothes she was wearing today in the country of the flag she was holding.
Heavy handed? Yes.
Any need for the flag to be waved? I don't think so.
Inciting trouble? Possibly.

If it's the same ones that I saw waving Palestinian flags at the Israeli team bus, I was thinking the same thing. I nearly asked her if she would dress like that in Gaza, or even the West Bank, but I had a rare outbreak of good sense and said nothing. In fact, the three of them went right into a group of Israeli fans, there to welcome their team. Fortunately, the Israelis had the good sense to ignore them, and their flags.

Biggish guy with ponytail and beard and the woman had dyed streaks in her hair. Standing directly infront of us - definitely inciting the Israel fans

Different ones I saw. Curly haired bloke wearing a Palestinian scarf, attractive girl wearing an above the knee skirt, bare arms, and a fair haired bloke. They had two Palestinian flags, which they held up as the Israeli bus arrived, and then went and stood right in the middle of a group of Israeli fans. Same intentions they had, though.

Palestinian Flag Seen As ‘Political’ And ‘Offensive’ At Cardiff Stadium

2015 Monday 7TH posted by Morning Star in Sport

AN ESTIMATED 1,500 demonstrators took part in yesterday’s peaceful pro-Palestine demonstration in Wales against the backdrop that the Palestinian flag would be seen as a “political or offensive banner” inside Cardiff City Stadium.

Wales hosted Israel in a Euro 2016 qualifier but the build-up to the match was overshadowed by the fact that fans could be handed a three-year stadium ban if caught inside the stadium with a Palestinian flag.

Under Uefa regulations, the Palestine flag is not deemed a political or offensive banner but a decision was made ahead of the match to block Wales supporters showing solidarity with those in Palestine.
They told the Star: “Following consultation with our duty safety officer and South Wales Police and after taking into account the planned demos, we have determined that Palestinian flags will not be allowed in the stadium for their breach our banner policy due to the fact that at this fixture they would be considered contentious.”

f**k the politics in football

Re: Heavy handed stewarding, yet again.

politics has been in and around football for as long as I can remember, ive seen the right (NF, BNP etc) and the left (SWP, militant) selling outside grounds over the years, and wasn't it recently when the edl(wdl) were in Cardiff we had a daft group called "bluebirds against racists" or something of the like, so politics will always be in and around the sport, like it or not

He should have been thrown out, these citizens have probably seen family members die and he wants to rub it in their faces. Regardless of political stand points the majority of these people want to live peaceful war-free lives, it's not their faults their governments are murderous villains.

The israeli fans were allowed to make a demonstration in the field directly next to the ground.

Handing out propaganda as well - "get your free fanzine" rubbish. I'm not completely sure what was in it mind.

So I see no issue with it.

Politics and football go hand in hand with clubs in Europe. Not saying that's it's either right or wrong but it never really caught on in this country apart from the old firm I guess

What if he had held up a swatiska?
Just as offensive.
Idiots know the rules then complain when it is acted on.
He was in the Welsh end and it is only for Welsh fans.

Although I disagree with anyone taking a Palestine flag into the game, you simply can't compare it to the swastika...
At the end of the day, these people holding up the Palestine flags would only be doing so to incite some sort of violence/hatred which simply isn't needed. Keep politics out of football. The only thing that matters in a football ground is the 2 teams and their fans supporting their team.
Also, if the stewards were being "heavy handed" then I'm pretty sure that they were only doing so because the person resisted being escorted out of the ground.

Your cretinous comments have got the responses they deserved though I dare say not the ones you were expecting. They should not have been in the ground in the first place. The stewards come in for a lot of stick on here and rightly so in many cases but here they were doing the right thing and I say well done on this occasion.

it was a provocative and insensitive move to do this at a match involving israel. to be honest, what should have happened was the flag to be taken and given back at the end, though.
