Italian club Atalanta and Cardiff's Championship rivals Fulham are among clubs who have been tracking the 19-year-old Weymans and manager Bluebirds boss Russell Slade is delighted with his latest arrival.

Belgian youth international Weymans, who has played for his country's Under-17, Under-18 and Under-19 teams, will go straight into Cardiff's development squad when he arrives in South Wales.

He is currently at a training camp with the Belgian Under-19 team and will start training with the Bluebirds next week.

Slade and his coaching staff believe Weymans has the ability to be challenging for a first team spot within the next year or so.

His arrival means Cardiff boss Slade has signed six players during the transfer window just ended.

Weymans follows Sammy Ameobi, on loan from Newcastle, plus Idriss Saadi, Gabriel Tamas, Semi Ajayi and Jordan Blaise in moving to the Welsh capital.

All the relevant registration paperwork was completed before the 6pm deadline when the transfer window closed on Tuesday, but City waited until final approval from the Football League before they announced their captutre.

Cardiff City Football Club is pleased to announce the signing of Marco Weymans, subject to international clearance.

The eighteen year old midfielder links up with the Bluebirds after coming through the Academy of Dutch giants PSV Eindhoven, and has signed a three year deal at Cardiff City Stadium that runs until the summer of 2018.

Weymans is a Belgian U19 international, who can play in midfield and defence. The new Bluebirds signing was thrust into the limelight earlier this year after scoring from his own half for Belgium's U19 squad during a European Championship Qualifier against Sweden. He will join up with Kevin Nicholson's U21 squad for the 2015/16 season.

Welcome Marco

Welcome Indeed.

Let's hope he doesn't disappear into the same black hole that the Uruguayan centre half did a few seasons ago.

Really hope that some of the development players get given a chance to show what they can do and hopefully start pushing hard for a place in the first team squad.

Good luck Marco.

He's a left back / left winger, apparently.

Fantastic news! I was preying for a midfielder and thought we'd missed out.

natural position is LB but has LW and CDM.
He's gone straight into our U21 team, so i don't think this is the midfielder we are chasing. BUT still a great signing for late this season and next :ayatollah:

Belgian youth international Marco Weymans has, subject to international clearance, completed his move to Cardiff City today.

The 18 year old midfielder came through the youth ranks at well known Dutch side PSV Eindhoven and he has agreed a deal with us keeping him under contract until the summer of 2018.

He comes in as a versatile player, mainly central midfield, but also somebody who can play in defence and he is a Belgian Under 19 international.

He has moved to us to join up with Kevin Nicholson's Under 21 Development Squad for the rest of this season but he'll no doubt be hoping to work his way into manager Russell Slade's first team plans.

It's possible some may already know his name - although I definitely don't - as during an Under 19 European Championship qualifier against Sweden earlier this year he scored from his own half.
