Happens in all businesses. The reality is that you will only find loyalty as a one way route. That being employee to employer and that is because the employee can't find anything better.

Depends. In some businesses you do get employers being loyal to employees but thats often in a minimal amount of cases whereby the employee has proven themselves, in terms of fiscal value, to be irreplaceable to the firm. However, I'd agree with what you're saying in most cases. Its very rare that an employee reaches a position within a company that loyalty from above will override decisions made and even in those cases the main motivator is profit, just as the main motivator with most employees is getting a wage packet.

Look up key user insurance. This is where an employer takes out insurance on an employee in the case the employee is bounty hunted. This insurance was quite a profitable business in the 80s but it is very rare these days.
