If this is true then surely we have to sell at that price.
This is a player who couldn't get into the first team here or at Bolton last season and, given the Saadi signing, every likelihood his game time will be limited this year too (although I accept that he is the man in possession of the shirt at the moment).
Many people on here have been saying for month's that Tan is looking to cash in. If that really is the case would we really turn down such an extraordinary bid for a, relatively, ordinary player in a position we are, on paper, well stocked ??

4m is a lot of money for someone who hasnt really got the goals you would expect at any point in his career.
2 in 5 so far though, and slade believes hes the main man so good to see we have ambition by keeping him

In my opinion, City was right to reject offer, but if Wolves upped their offer to 5.million, City should accept

And get in who at the last minute? Selling him now would be insane. He's chipping in with goals, offers something different to Jones and already knows how our players operate. If we sell we might not get anybody in or we might get somebody in but they may take ages to get accustomed to the side. We shouldn't risk that now. It will be enough of a task to get Idriss up to speed with the team.

start of the season id say yes transfer deadline day id say no
Tue Sep 01, 2015 9:40 am
sell him at 5m and stick that towards signing dwight gayle please,i think gayle will go for not much more than that today
Tue Sep 01, 2015 9:42 am
If this is true where does this leave Le Fondre who is on loan a Wolves and would cost less than a half of that.
Hmmm.

You don't sell your best players, Joe Mason is one of those. If you can't get a replacement in tell them to do one.
Tue Sep 01, 2015 9:51 am
If he is valued at 4 million them Marshall is worth 15 million!.
Tue Sep 01, 2015 9:53 am
Sorry but for me on deadline day, phone should go off and club speak to nobody. Dont give a toss how much for anybody - answer should be NO!

You can't compare Striker's valuations to goalkeepers and the way Joe has started the season, he's worth more than the money offered!
As it has already been stated though, it would be stupid to sell him at this stage of the season and at such a late time in the transfer window!

Sell him for that price and get Gale

Haven't Palace turned down at least double what Wolves have offered us for Mason?

Sell at that price...Doyle can get a chance and saiDi. Would love gayle as a replacement. Similar to earnie pace
Tue Sep 01, 2015 10:05 am
I hope we think we could get more, but take it, now !!!!
Some on here talk as if he is Messi. The 2 goals were a glorified back pass and a deflected header from a Pilkington shot !!!!
I don't see the Mason love in, 4 million, bloody hell. Sell, sell, sell and get Campbell back and pocket some change......
Come to think of it would you really pay 4 million for Mason when you could get Campbell for probably less ??????
Worlds gone crazy !!!!
Assuming we play a asymmetric 442 would you really pick Mason to partner KJ over Frazier Campbell
Thought not

Sell, sell, sell for that price. Anything more than a million is a bonus.

We should have sold him for that price. If it was in fact true. I'm sure we could of brought in a replacement on loan at some stage today. If not today, then the loan window opens in a few weeks and we could have signed a replacement for Mason then. Which would have given us money to work with in the January transfer window. I don't think that we will never get another bid of around that price for Mason again and I hope we don't live to regret the decision to turn it down. I personally don't think Mason is anywhere near that valuation at the moment or in the future. Mason will never be a prolific goal scorer in this division and his lack of pace and strength are his big downfalls.
Remember, it happened before when we received a big offer for a player and we rejected it, when we should have accepted the offer. Joe Ledley was the player and Stoke bid £6m for him, which was a fantastic offer back then. We all know what happened after that, Ledley left a season or two later on a free. I hope the same doesn't happen with Mason. We should have accepted the bid straight away.
Bloooooobirds.
Tue Sep 01, 2015 10:34 am
you can get gayle for 6m today and campbell for about 2.5 so if 4m was on the table today id be sending a car to palace and get one of them two in asap otherwise tell them where to go,but if youre telling me you'd rather have mason than one of them two mentioned then your mad

Sorry I disagree as I am comparing worth to the team.

As much as i rate him and like him, anything more than 2.5 mill and I'd sell. If we can get 5 mill we could get Ledley and Campbell in if they want to re invest it.

Agreed.
We could probably buy Campbell and pay for a season of Nolan's wages with that. Personally I'd take a million for Mason but it would appear that I'm in the minority on that
What isn't in our favour is the timing as we're running out of time to spend anything. I suppose the question is would Jones, Saadi, Macheda, Healy, Doyle(?), Ameobi, etc, be sufficient to maintain our good start with a possible loanee to further strengthen the position ? I would suggest the answer is "yes" but I accept that Saadi is the gamble.

Sell sell sell!
Keep Doyle and play him instead.

I suppose people don't read all the posts in a thread
It's all bull , no enquiry, no offer

Then you clearly haven't seen any of our games this season, as Mason has been a big part of our decent start to the season!

Mason is 6 years younger mind! I think £4m is too much though, I'd sell for that!

The money is peanuts to what we'll get should Joe score around 15 goals for us and chip in with a few assists!
Too late in the Transfer window IMO!

Everyone saying sell and bring in Campbell or Gayle. On what wages do you think these boys will want?Thought we weren't in the market of paying silly wages out anymore.
