At least we've offloaded his very expensive (I imagine) wages. The only reason I saw for not playing him was he must have been on a huge appearance fee with huge goal bonuses.

In a less combative league probably will! but then he's not wanted here so good luck to him like all players who leave city.

Annis he may or may not have scored goals but he's for whatever reason not wanted at city so best to get off wage Bill and move forward!

Following a summer of uncertainty for the experienced Spanish striker, 33-year-old Javi Guerra has penned a two-year contract with La Liga outfit Rayo Vallecano, who announced a deal had been struck with his former club, Championship side Cardiff City.
Guerra spent the second half of last season at hometown club Malaga on loan, with whom he has remained strongly linked over recent months. However, it is believed they were hoping the player could secure the rescission of his contract with the Welsh club.
Although a return to Malaga always appeared to be the first choice for Guerra, that window of opportunity closed, given they have since brought back Paraguayan international, Roque Santa Cruz.
After scoring 15 goals during the 2013-14 campaign in La Liga with Real Valladolid, there were great expectations for Guerra upon his arrival at Cardiff City.
Unfortunately, he only made three Championship appearances from the bench during the 2014-15 season, plus two more as a substitute in the League Cup.
Now returning to the Spanish top-flight with Rayo Vallecano, he will be hopìng to rediscover the best of his form, after his spell with Cardiff City never really worked out as hoped.
Regarded for his ability to resurrect the careers of players, certainly Rayo boss Paco Jemez will hope to get the very best from Guerra. Following the international break, he is likely to head straight into the side for the next match against Deportivo La Coruña, on Monday 14th September.
Speaking with the official Cardiff City website, Guerra departed with the message: "I'd like to thank Cardiff City Football Club and Tan Sri Vincent Tan for bringing me to the UK and giving me an opportunity.
"I'd like to wish Cardiff City the very best for the future and I thank Ken Choo and Russell Slade for helping to facilitate my move to Rayo Vallecano." He concluded.
