' KENWYNE JONES EXCUSED FROM DUTY/SORT OUT FUTURE '

Sun Aug 30, 2015 11:49 am

Sunday, August 30, 2015

Kenwyne Jones has requested to be excused from international duty with Trinidad and Tobago in order to resolve his future at Cardiff City.

The former Stoke City and Sunderland striker has been linked with a move to Sheffield Wednesday and two MLS clubs over the summer.

Despite transfer talk cooling in recent weeks and Jones scoring two goals in four appearances for the Bluebirds this season, Trinidad and Tobago coach Stephen Hart has revealed that his captain has requested to miss the friendly game with Mexico in order to figure out his club future.

"Jones is trying to sort out his future with Cardiff City and Bateau has now joined Russian Premier Division club FC Krylia Sovetov Samara and have both asked to be excused," he told reporters, also referring to Sheldon Bateau.

The 30-year-old has scored 15 goals in 52 appearances since joining Cardiff City from Stoke in a straight swap deal for Peter Odemwingie in January 2014.

Maybe he's been offered longer contract but lower salary.

Interesting

If Sheff Wed are offering £10m for McCormack but Fulham don't move, I can see them finally making a legit bid for Kenwyne. £3m would be what I'd take

His wages are the extra baggage, he's in his thirties. Lambert went for £4m

Kenwyn must stay yes people on this board says things like is wage is to high another one is he's lazy well I'm saying play to Kenwyn's strengths and he will score goals

The problem with Kenwyne is when we're going through a bad run of form. He'll be the first one to go missing, it seems we're going the same route as last season and just praying Kenwyne scores our goals from many headers. But what happens when he's not scoring etc? He's a passenger and brings us down

Can't compare the two, Jones is good at heading but not much else, McCormack on the other hand can score from free kicks, outside the box and inside the box.

Anyone who says sell needs their head seeing to. The guy is by far our most effective striker anything other than starting spot doesn't bear thinking about.

We need to do everything to keep him

We need to keep Kenwyne and get in another striker who will compliment his strengths or see if a partnership can be worked out with Ameobi.

I would get rid of Revell,Doyle and Macheda. Use this cash to buy a decent and more prolific striker.

You yourself have pointed out how McCormack and Jones are totally different players, so why would you think Sheff W would switch from Ross to Kenwynne?

Think they're just looking for a striker with guaranteed goals in him no matter the height or style of play. Throwing a chequebook at Championship players

Fair enough. There seems to be a few clubs taking our road a few seasons ago. It can fail drasticall

. I know we aren't spending money but oddly I'm quite glad we are trying to get the outgoings somewhere near the income.

Just seen Sheff Wed have signed Fernando Foriesteri as well, so probably just looking for a big striker now to compliment him. It all depends how Sheff Wed deliver it I guess, think they should have gone for a reliable Championship manager. Fully agree! If anything it makes us appreciate the players we have when we're constantly trying to get players out and not spending as much, we underestimate the contribution they give to us. :ayatollah:

Hopefully. Would really prefer us to sign a pacey striker, something we don't have currently.

Watching him play he seems happy with his football here and seems to have good chemistry with the rest of the squad, he's proven to be a vital player in just two games but obviously the main issue is his salary. Hopefully he will accept a wage-cut and stay, but that rarely ever happens to good players.

KJ will be a big player for us if he stays and I hope he does.

We've just beaten Wolves and Forest, and Kenwyne scored in both games. Say no more!

I see Kenwyne staying here and not linking up with Trinidad, as a possible bad sign. Why would he be given the week off to sort out his future? We all know his future don't we? Russell Slade has said on numerous occasions that he isn't going anywhere. So, why does Kenwyne feel like he needs to sort out his future? Unless, what Slade is saying in the press, is different to what Kenwyne Jones is hearing behind the scenes. Personally, I think he has been given the week off by his National side manager, so Kenwyne can sort out a move to another club.

Bloooooobirds.

Usual shit self? Since when has he been shit for us? With the team we have this season I think Jones is going to be one of the Championship top goalscorers.
