Russell Slade: David Marshall will stay at Cardiff

30/08/2015

Sky Sports

Cardiff manager Russell Slade heaped praise on David Marshall after seeing the goalkeeper play a heroic role in Saturday's 2-1 win at Nottingham Forest - and pledged that he was going nowhere.

West Brom are understood to have had a £5m bid for Marshall rejected, and he demonstrated his value with some vital saves at the City Ground.

A 23rd-minute goal from Kenwyne Jones and another from Joe Mason four minutes after the break put the visitors in control. But Marshall had also had to deny Tyler Walker twice and Michail Antonio once, with important stops, before finally having his resistance broken in the 86th minute, after Antonio had darted clear.

I still won't be surprised if Marshall and Jones leave on deadline day.

This won't happen, more likely to happen if we were in bad form or showing no real signs of progress.

I honestly think jones and Marshall are the difference in a mid table finish and a top 6 hope to god they stay :bluescarf:

If we had a bad start to the season I believe they would be more likely to leave now we've started well the board and slade are probably thinking we genuinely have a good chance of going up

Marshall,Jones and Fabio have already proved their value and I hope that the board recognise that if we are going to have any chance of even the playoffs let alone automatic promotion then we have to keep these players. There are other players that we need to get off the books, with the Premier league being worth at least £100 million next season it is well worth keeping Jones Marshall and Fabio.

They can go in January if we are not progressing.

Worth holding on and see where we get

Exactly the point I have been trying to make :thumbright:

If David Marshall goes unless we get someone of the calibre of Wayne Hennessey i quickly I fear a top 2 finish is gone.
Considering the rewards of premiership football next season a miserly £5-6M is bad business

Why would Marshall want to go and be the No 2 at West Brom behind the England No 2 Buttland. Warming a seat on the bench would also see him behind McGregor for Scotland because of lack of match time. :?: :?:   Stay a :bluebird:

Buttland plays for stoke, it's being reported that West Brom will offer 6 million tomorrow.
