' Not Good News '

David Marshall
West Brom boss Tony Pulis planning deadline-day raid for Cardiff City keeper

Just as you thought David Marshall was staying at Cardiff City, Tony Pulis has spoken out to insist he still wants the Scotland keeper
It is thought City want a minimum £5mill cash plus add ons.

My Opinion City should keep Marshall no matter what :thumbright: :thumbright:

Marshall is the best keeper outside Prem League and our backbone of our team :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Don't think it has ever really be in doubt that if WBA came in with the right amount of money he would be gone. It's a business, Tan is trying to cut his losses, all our players would be available at the right price. Just hope our valuation of Marshall is different to WBA's valuation.

This is bad news. If we sell and have someone lined up to replace him then it's not the end of the world. I really rate the Southend keeper Bentley. Moore appears too error prone and he has already cost us points.

If we get 5 million basic fee and can bring in a top lower league keeper plus bring in a pacy striker then it's good business and will help us meet financial fair play criteria.

I agree Gareth, if Slade can use the cash then it's good and sensible business. I think he has a keeper lined up, possibly Lee Camp who is down the pecking order at Bournemouth with Boruc and Federici as the primary keepers. Pulis may loan us Myhill as part of the deal but ideally Hennessey will come. Hopefully gives us the surplus cash to get a decent midfielder and a decent striker to either on a season long loan or for a decent fee. Leaves us stronger IF we replace one with three.

Raise the asking value a bit for a deadline day deal

The asking price is already raised and it's a lot more than £5m

If we can bring 3 in that would be great. We also need to loan out the likes of Theo Warton and Tommy O'Sullivan to lower league clubs to help their development and lower the wage bill (I know they earn peanuts compared to likes of Marshall and Whitts but every little helps)

It's not going to leave us much time to bring in players. Maybe there may be a loan move for Hennessey on the cards? We will definitely need to strengthen the gk position if he goes

Ive heard the same.

I don't understand why clubs leave it until the last minute.

Do West Brom really think City will drop their price ?

Why not pay the asking price in the first place.
Especially here where their no 1 keeper is getting nearer to full fitness every week.

I don't see what difference this makes, we already know wba want him just because we say he's not for sale they still want him they will have to offer alot more than they have done and considering we said their offer was derisory I'd be shocked if they offered the amount we are seeking considering they just spent 6-8m on jonny Evans.

With him in the team West Brom can stay up without him they won't For the city though selling him will be the biggest mistake since selling Toshack in my opinion

Needs to be done soon to get replacement in

Re: ' Not Good News '

I might be a mile off the mark here but this is my thinking:

a) Club value Marshall at more than £5m
b) £20k is the budget salary for players - (£1m per year)
c) Nolan is on £50k per week - (or £2.6m per year)

If we received an offer in the region of £6.5m for Marshall we have effectively got our £5m for Marshall and also got WBA paying the difference in Nolan salary for 1 year - and we also retain Nolan transfer value going forward.

Just a thought ..... and could be a million miles off

lets look on the bright side, the only way Tan will sanction the buying of Noble is if we sell Marshall.
Marshall has been a great servant and very loyal, but Noble is the key to success. :bluebird:

WBA are hanging on for more money on Berahino , so City will know they have the cash and if we sell Tan will get his asking price I believe ....

Can easily get a keeper who can cope at this level for £1/£2 million. Sell, sell, sell and put it against the debt

I can see it now, sell Marshall on deadline day and then say it was too late to bring in new players

Whether you like it or not we can only progress with Tan! hopefully today he will see us as a club who can progress in blue and he will again put his money in the club

Don't know if I'm reading too much into this, but David Marshall came over to us at the end of the game and seemed to applaud us for longer than usual.

He's going to be with the Scotland squad this coming week.

Tony Pulis is not conducting himself with much dignity over all this. Speaking out about publicly about another club's player.
